Yeah. It wasn't a great movie on its own but it left open lots of good possibilities. They're was lots of discussion and predictions about where things would go. You didn't see that same level of discussion after TLJ.

Hux was a sissy weasel who needed a good slap to the balls in the first movie, and Rian Johnson wisely kept his character in tact while making it funnier.

It was the serviceable, safe Star Wars movie that was needed at the time.

It's a solid 7/10 movie that serves as a good opening, The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film and expands and improves on it. I'm about to watch Rise of Skywalker for the first time, got a bad feeling about it

It was the serviceable, safe Star Wars movie that was needed at the time. Absolutely. Ease your way back in to a new story in a way that would be appealing to fans. Disney should have literally contracted him for all 3 movies and then we wouldn't be in this debacle. ... Copied to Clipboard!

The slapstick stuff with Hux really didn't do it for me. On the other hand, Hux reaching for his blaster when Kylo was on the floor of the throne room, then backing off... that's when the character was at its best.

Yeah, it was as good a start as I could have hoped for. I enjoyed the 2 sequels for what they were (expensive fan fiction) but the ST could have been so much more.I think the big problem is that TFA and TLJ are basically one story, roughly speaking - chapter 1 and 2 of the first part of a larger series - but there is no chapter 2 and up, just a haphazard ending. When people are saying "where can they go after TLJ threw everything out?!", they're really complaining about "how is this supposed to end in the next part, when this was just the beginning?". That's my head canon, anyway. --- But the sacred Jedi, Tex! ... Copied to Clipboard!
