I'll be honest. I was expecting a joke about how they can just make everyone wear filtered helmets and masks for their actual in-universe outifits.

Eventually, they will cave and make a movie that directly ties the Alien franchise to the Blade Runner franchise.

I think it would be cool to tie together the total recall and blade runner franchise. From what I understand the original movie was intended to be offworld from DADOES even though the original story it's not.

Then we can have like a Phillip K Dick-verse or something. Throw in minority report too.

I like literally all of them. None of them are as good as the original, but I enjoy the setting so much I can look past all of their faults and enjoy them.

I think Prometheus was alright at the time, but then Covenant took a giant shit over all of its plotlines and now it just feels pointless.

I don't know how anyone can defend Covenant. Ridley Scott came back, advertised the movies as being an Alien movie, when it was a direct sequel to his stupid AI story that no one cared about in Prometheus. Then he forgot multiple things about the physiology of aliens that he created. IE, chest bursters that are somehow fully grown seconds after jumping out of someone's body.

It was a very bad movie made by a very bad man who should not be allowed to make movies anymore. I'm just glad he didn't return to Blade Runner and let professionals carry his torch there.

Just like Terminator.

i honestly believe there has never been a bad Alien movie. The third one was rough, but the extended cut smooths things out a bit. The fourth movie isn't much like the others, but it was perfectly watchable. Prometheus was quite good. Covenant was also a good movie, but I was kind of pissed because it wasn't great. We deserved more of a backstory about the Engineers, not only from a lore perspective, but also because David's motivations seemed like they were tied up with what he learned from studying their culture and history.

I didnt love Covenant and its been a while but I thought the whole thing was they werent meant to be the exact same thing as the chestbursters previously seen in the series as they were essentially experiments with the black goo and such.

I guess I can't really comment on that because I never saw Prometheus and I went into this not knowing that the movie was a direct sequel to Prometheus.

But that's sort of the problem there. Like I said, this movie was clearly advertised as a new Alien movie, and they pulled the rug out from under us with over half the movie being devoted to Prometheus. I feel like any difference in the aliens from a continuity perspective could be chalked up to "Well, these aliens were genetically modified, made by the evil robot!". Just seems like lazy writing as opposed to giving the fans the Xenomorphs they came for.

Yeah, well a lot of people believe a lot of silly things. It sounds like you are a fanboy of the series and they can serve you any steaming pile of crap and you will gobble it up.

Well, thats your problem then. Prometheus and Covenant take place at the beginning of the Alien movie timeline and (in a simplified sense) revolve around testing labs for these species. So of course skipping the setup movie for Covenant would lose some of this info.

Even if you dont like the movie(s), its explained easy enough why the aliens arent exactly the same.

I found the transitional forms and variations interesting, but the absurdly accelerated development rate of all the creatures was slightly absurd.

Covenant was a step up from Prometheus, but it still wasn't a great movie. Though I could possibly see myself watching covenant again. The only cool thing about Prometheus was the giant facehugger

A prequel about the Engineers before they crash landed was an awesome idea.

They hired some complete hacks for talent in the writing department and Scott's weird obsession with ancient aliens and AI brought us the garbage we got. The best part about both movies is the opening scene of Prometheus and then that's a wrap.

yeah the set up for the two movies is in theory great, but as you say, once again hacks for talent in the writing department. Hell, just go rob some fanfiction story ideas on the internet and you'd get something 10000x better than what we got.
