Study seems fine, honestly. They're not trying to prove that it is sexually transmitted. This is just the first step along that path (showing that in some infected men it is detectable in sexual fluids)

I assume the same reason we tested to see if it can be found in poop. I mean if you are having sex, you are going to catch it with or without semen, so at best this is just more confirmation that people need to wash their hands. That said, how many people poop or jack off and don't wash their hands afterward?

It sounds like they don't have evidence it can be transmitted through contact with semen, which kind of seems odd. Why do this test and not see if it can be spread through contact with the semen? They had sick people wack off into a cup just to see if there was any traces of it in the semen.

this should be a non-issue. If youre close enough to someone to interact with them and make the baby batter come out you will get corona anyway because said people have been breathing together and getting too close anyway

Consider how different that study is from this one, the ethnics involved etc. Realistically to test this you would need to infect a tissue sample or animal model in a lab.

To demonstrate sexual transmission specifically in humans is gonna be difficult due to the amount of close contact involved in sex. Probably need to be an observational study. Or a weird gloryhole-esque setup, but that's probably not going to get ethical approval given there's risk of harm to participants.

They're not even saying there is enough of the virus in it to be transmitted to another person, just that there are trace amounts in there. If that's fearmongering, then we have watered that word down way too much.

And yeah you probably could get it from kissing. I mean its a fucking respiratory disease, droplets from coughs can spread it around, mouth to mouth contact is probably going to spread it. I mean if you can't grasp that, then you probably think any mention of a virus at all is fearmongering

• collection from a triage hospital
• likely self collection

these are the primary reasons i say its suspect. it doesn't mean you should ignore the possibility, but it also doesn't mean that guys need to start treating their spunk like radioactive waste...

and i wouldn't be surprised to see this study popping up on big news sources and social media, which will both treat it like the gospel truth.
