The Dems gave GOP all the bailouts they wanted in other bills. They got nothing to bargain with right now. Plus states are reopening so it can be argued that people have their jobs back or can work instead of getting free money.

excuse me? i don't remember a single person on here telling me i wouldn't get it. in fact, both social security and the irs has been sending me emails saying that i should be getting it this month since the treasury department deals with disability and social security.

as a matter of fact, i don't recall ever talking to you about this prior to today. i'd love to hear your reasoning as to why i'm not getting it since the government has been telling me for a month now that i would.

you're delusional if you think opening up businesses is going to bring in enough business to keep most afloat/employ enough people

the bandage is reopening. People are going to stay home whether or not their government says they have to at this point. The true way to help out these businesses and individuals is financial stimulus

Republicans don't want to give out more checks for a reason.

Their whole plan right now is to make people poor/angry enough to bully governors into lifting restrictions so they can get back to work and die so Republicans billionaire buddies can make more money off their labor without being held liable.

my town has that problem right now... it's due to the low amount of cases but it doesn't mean jack squat when other county's are having a far worse problem with possible cases especially asymptomatic ones within washington and the greater oregon area.

we'll be back at square one again if we start to see cases rise in this town.

The Government theoretically should utilize Keynesian economics in the form of stimulus during global pandemics, but...the United States is not in any fiscal realm to do so responsibly. Years of bipartisan reckless budgeting and ballooned deficits pre-pandemic got us to where we are today with a fucking whooping $25 trillion+ debt.

this.

We simply cannot afford another 2 trillion dollar bill. Furthermore the 2 trillion dollar bill we just got was so overloaded and bloated with nonsense(and yes democrats were involved in adding pork to it FYI gamefaqs, don't act like democrats don't spend recklessly).

If you take the average we'll say 1200 a person, and times it by the USA population that brings us to a spending total of 393,600,000,000. Yet the bill was 2,000,000,000,000. A fine example of why America is fucking broke and why one day this over spending is going to kill us and one of many many reasons we've got to get a handle on our social wel fare programs and the border as many border hop and jump straight onto the social wel fare programs.

More immigrants work and pay into funding the safety net than the minuscule amount that cheat the system. If the argument is immigrants are bad because welfare, remove welfare all together. Oh wait, Republicans move the goal post when that is suggested and immediately became Bernie Bros. babying a bunch of unproductive no-skilled white people that have failure to launch that have refused to learn any real skilled trade or get any degree worth a damn for the job market. The border should be secured in the form of making it easier for streamlined immigration to freely flow towards employment.

none of this is true, but okay, keep believing nbc news because they never ever lie, ever. liberals really need to watch something other than far left everything is racist news networks for once. They might actually see there is more than one perspective in the world.

Yes now you'll say conservatives need to watch something other than fox news, but that doesn't work because a conservative has to actually seek out and research news because the overwhelming majority is liberal news. Even Fox is half way liberal.

How Much U.S. Debt Does China Own?
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/080615/china-owns-us-debt-how-much.asp

$1.1 trillion. That's how much we owe China. Every year, we make debt payments, including interest to China. The interest alone is probably over $20 billion a year.

Money doesn't come out of thin air. You can't just give free money away without greatly increasing the deficit. The Dems would love to give free money away so we can owe money to every country in the world and reducing our budgeting powers. China practically own the Dems at this point, that's why they keep defending China.

And why did Trump increase debt during an economic upswing: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/trump-national-debt-deficit-compared-to-obama-bush-clinton-2019-2%3famp

Because increasing the debt gives something for the Republicans to blame on the Democrats and lets them call for welfare cuts. It's always the same story. This is also why the economy would be in a much better state under Hillary 5 years from now - a GOP senate would hold her budget accountable while they let a Republican President run up a deficit.

The point is that too much deficit is not good for the U.S. The U.S. government already gave over a Trillion away in the last couple months.

$2000 per month would easily add another Trillion to the deficit over 3 months. That's without anything else in the budget.
