Theyre a working mastiff. Not really suitable for modern life unless youre guarding an estate. Theyd require a lot of training due to their size and temperament, so probably not suited for most families.

I have a Corso, a black brindle female.

That big Corso in the pic doesn't have good conformation in the head and muzzle, so it's not a good example of the breed.

This is a structurally correct female.

They're fine with families. Like all dogs they require training, exercise and socialization.

they're like pitbulls (actually cane are worse), or really any large territorial dog breed. they require good handling and early socializing unless you want a dog that tries to attack people on walks. brother used to have a roommate with two, and while one of them was ok the other would try to murder anyone that came over.

Pit Bulls aren't territorial (towards people anyway) because they're not a traditional guardian breed like the Corso.

The correct temperament for the Corso is to be alert and attentive, but not reactive or aggressive when out in public. Your brother's roommate had dogs that had sketchy temperaments, probably from a backyard breeder.

It's called a crop, and it's basically taking the dog ear and returning it to it's natural state. Floppy ears are a man made thing, no wild canids (or any wild animal for that matter) have ear floppy ears blocking air and light to the ear canal.

It's also far less invasive than early spay/neuter which can lead to other health problems if done before physical maturity, but people spay/neuter young puppies all the time.

Over 25 years I used to own Rottweilers and APBTs, my Rottweilers and uncropped APBTs tended to be more susceptible to ear infections. The cropped APBTs and my cropped Corso never had any ear problems whatsoever.

On the scale of what's wrong with dog breeding and raising, cropping and docking are near the bottom of the list for me. There are people breeding sketchy dogs, dogs with crippling hip dysplasia, dogs that can barely run 20 yards without passing out, dogs that can't give birth naturally etc.

whataboutthis doesnt make your shit any better man. maybe do a better job cleaning your dogs ears? you dont see people cropping other breeds with floppy ears. it is bodily mutilation for no reason other than cosmetic purposes dude and anything about preventing infection has no real proof to back up.

its totally humane to chop off a dogs ears and then tape them to hard flat surfaces for several weeks so that they stay standing up like that, guys! even tho no one actual says shit like this except for breeders and dog show people!!

Your chances of changing taharqas mind about pitbulls and other large dog breeds is zero in my experience, as you can tell from that response it's impossible to educate someone with experience

Talk to people that have had both cropped and uncropped dogs then if you think uncropped dogs are not susceptible ear infections. Floppy ears are a result of domestication, the natural state of a canid's ear is erect.

Although most people don't work their dogs the same way as they were traditionally bred, cropping/docking had a purpose for working breeds. The Corso is a working breed and has a different crop than a Doberman or Great Dane, her ears didn't need to be taped "for several weeks" because the traditional Corso crop is shorter.

The pup is cropped under anesthesia by a vet, and they're up and running the same day like nothing happened. I've had to separate pups after their procedures because they were playing so hard.

This is akin to getting up in arms about circumcision. Like I said, I care way more about bad breeding, untrained, unsocialized, understimulated, unexercised and unhealthy dogs, which a lot furmoms and furdads have.
