for a serious show try Monster. Its similar to Death Note. Lots of mind games and tense situations. But unlike Death Note there is no supernatural stuff in Monster. Its just about a serial killer and a man trying to stop him

For a comedy check out Cromartie High School. Its set in an all boys high school for delinquents. Basically a school full of tough kids.

I've been trying to get my non stop anime watching friend into Monster for years. He basically refuses because it isn't the typical shonen, magic, cliche riddled stuff he usually watches. I've seen episodes of like 20 different anime at his place in the past year and the only one that didn't look exactly the same as the others is Darwin's Game.

An all time favorite show. Very not anime like.

Order....Movie 1 -> movie 2 -> season 1(stand alone complex) - > season 2(2nd gig) -> movie 3(solid state society)

That is one continuation. They made a separate live action movie a few years ago, I liked it, even if most people wrongly in my view crapped on it. Then they made a new series. Not as good as the original, but hey I'll take it.

That said, movie 1 and 2 can be skipped, they are good, and you shouldn't skip them, but they are only barely connected to season 1 and 2.

Last time you made a topic like this I suggested Golden Boy and you never responded. So once again I'm going to highly recommend Golden Boy. It's short, it's hilarious, it's got sexy ladies and it's got one of my favorite protagonists. Definitely watch the English dub though, it's amazing.

Watched the first episode. It was aight. I laughed when the teacher stole the bike at the beginning but after that the dialogue is kinda weird and random and didn't click with me >_> Does it get better? Would waifu the teacher. She's pretty great though

I'm not super big on anime and mainly watch Toonami stuff myself. I second Food Wars that was already mentioned. My Hero Academia and Hunter x Hunter round out my current top 3. They're mostly stereotypical shonen but I really love them. They remind me of stuff like the MCU and Dragon Ball, so if you're into that you might enjoy them.

Watch Wotakoi

It's a cute romantic comedy about adult otaku. The main couple doesn't beat around the bush forever and actually start dating in the first episode. It also has a sickeningly catchy OP. It's just really nice to watch an anime where the protagonist isn't a fifteen year old and the "old geezers" are like thirty at max.

Wat lol. I just love that hentai flash game when I was younger but I didn't realize it was based on something until a few years ago and I'm curious about it. But no lie, that flash game is probably one of the best flash games ever >_> It's so much fun to play and mess around with. It's basically like a mini-persona game with only the school-life section. I should go look it up again before flash dies lol

I think so. It has everything I enjoy, personally. Emotion/Heart, Action, Character building moments, etc. Very much like the MCU in those aspects like I said. Idk, I hear the fanbase is bad, but if you enjoy watching you can ignore all that.

You're welcome. it's an all time favorite show of mine. One reason I can't fathom why people hated the live action movie is because if you watch it, it's quite clear they made many references to the source material anime and first movies. It's very much a ghost in the shell story.

one reason I say this is because some animes are better if you know anime. Some animes simply self reference anime itself, so when they do that, it makes more sense if you are more familiar with anime as a whole. FLCL isn't a complete walking anime spoof, but those do exist and I would never tell someone to start with that.

Yes he straight up goes SSJ complete with badass fighting, then he gets all the women while in SSJ mode immediately after. It's insane. I don't want to spoil too much of the plot should you watch it.

Silver Spoon - It's about a boy from a big city enrolling in an agricultural high school because he wants to get away from his stern and highly critical father, and it turns out to be...not as easy as he expected. The anime kind of ends at a weird spot though, so you should definitely read the manga when you're done. One of my favorite characters from the manga isn't really done proper justice in the anime. (That character being Hachiken's dad, who always has such an intense look on his face that he keeps getting mistaken for Yakuza, a fact he seems blissfully unaware of. Funniest shit ever I tell ya.) Consider watching this clip to see if it's the kind of comedy you can get behind:

And my anti-rec is the Ace Attorney anime. It's not exactly bad, but it's also not good at all. It's very truncated compared to the games, it's not as funny, and even the animation is kinda jank. I'd honestly recommend just skipping this unless you really want to see your favorite cases with voice acting.

I've only seen half of the first season of Kaiji I think and I do like it much better than Kakegurui tbh but I started it without my gf and never found the time to continue lol never heard of the other one but I'll check it out.
