I lived a few block away from the first Kmart location and that place was almost mythical back in the day. Whatever their owners did to fuck it up (probably sold the company to another struggling company) is a damn sin. The location is currently being torn down, and whenever i go to see my family out that way i drive by it. About a month ago i saw some of that 1970s wood wall paneling from the back room and nearly shed a tear. There were many areas that either didn't have a Target in the region, or had a mall that was too far for people.
