Shopping habits have changed because of the coronavirus outbreak, and companies are responding quickly. PepsiCo is cutting out the grocery stores and selling directly to consumers through two new websites it launched this month. Consumers can shop on PepsiCo's PantryShop.com and Snacks.com for food and beverages. PantryShop.com offers kits in different categories, such as snacking, hydration, family favorites and protein. "In these uncertain times, as more and more consumers are using e-commerce channels to purchase food and beverage products, PantryShop.com and Snacks.com offer shoppers another alternative for easy and fast access to products they love," Gibu Thomas, senior vice president and head of e-commerce at PepsiCo, said. PepsiCo's new direct-to-consumer websites eliminate the need for consumers to obtain their snacks from a grocery store while continuing the trend of more brands turning to online shopping alternatives. Wary shoppers are driving the trend as more people prefer to have their groceries delivered instead of risking a trip to the store. "PantryShop.com and Snacks.com were developed from concept to execution in less than 30 days by leveraging a combination of PepsiCo's technology, insights, resources and inventory to quickly meet consumers' evolving needs. In addition to buying for themselves, consumers can ship products as gifts to friends and family via both platforms and the majority of orders on PantryShop.com and Snacks.com will arrive within two business days," PepsiCo said in a press release. Nice. Cutting out the middle man ends those supply chain issues. If other companies start doing this RIP grocery stores. --- "We'll never see Day-Lewis and Kubrick, or Kurosawa and Eastwood, but we have seen Bale and Nolan, a cinematic dream pairing come to life!" ... So does this means I won't be able to get Brisk, Pepsi, Rice a Roni, Quaker oatmeal, Gatorade, Cheetos, Cap'n Crunch, etc at the local grocery store in the near future? Yikes they own a lot of stuff.

Wait, are they not going to be selling through stores at all, or are they just opening up another avenue through which you can buy their stuff?
Because I can see their profit margin taking a huge hit over something stupid like this if it's the former. --- FFXIV: Lucius Hexenseele (Brynhildr) | RS3: UltimaSuende . 99 WC/Fish/Cook/Fletch/Div/Mining/Smithing/Thieving/Crafting https://letterboxd.com/BMovieBro/ ... Copied to Clipboard!

I can't believe they would actually do this. Think about all the people who decide to buy some soda when they are walking down the isle in the store that would never bother to order it online. They'll just start buying Coke, and it won't be long till they realize it's superior to Pepsi.

This is not for most people, it's one of those ploys to attract yuppies that will fail in a few years if not sooner. Buying groceries online period is geared only towards the 1%.
