I leave mine plugged in all the time anyways. But I have the option of bringing it anywhere. I also dont have to be chained sitting on my chair to a desk. I lay down on my bed next to my wife and chill out

They're kind of silly, but I'd rather game on my laptop than on a portable or my phone, so...

Ridiculously overpriced and under powered and you're basically nuking the room from the heat IIRC

Also imagine not waiting until you get home to play a video game lmfao

They were great back when I would regularly travel interstate.

Don't have much of a need these days thanks to Steam streaming. But hey I wouldn't complain if I got one.

They should try hanging out with them instead of playing on their laptop then.

The main complaint is the price for most people, paying more to get less. Also no ability to personally customize or upgrade, or at least not as much. Personally, I cannot stand using desktops, so always buy laptops. Though I'm also not much of a PC gamer, so I don't really need some beast of a machine anyway.

i mean I only game at home. I paid 500 for my laptop last summer I dont think it was overpriced. I got an i7, 8gb of ram, 1tb hd, 256 gb ssd, and a gtx 1050ti. Its held up well

When work takes me to hellholes in Florida I'd rather game in my hotel than go out and see the shitshow.

Imagine buying a laptop just for lan parties instead of just taking your computer.

Like, they're not THAT heavy. I'm a girl who doesn't work out and I can carry my PC just fine.

imagine showing up to a Party carrying a gigantic desktop with ridiculous flashy lights under one arm, then a giant monitor under the other, while dragging 8 different cords behind you lol

Imagine knowing you're going to go to lan parties and not having the foresight to just not build a giant dekstop and buying a giant monitor you're incapable of carrying...

Also 8 cords? More like power cable and hdmi cable.

Have you people actually been to these lan parties you talk about?

Lan Parties were a lot like car shows when they were a thing with flashy custom cases.

You forgot a power cable and a keyboard. Potentially Ethernet cable too.

Laptops are way more convenient to take to other places considering everything you need fits in a single laptop bag.

You'd need that ethernet cable with a laptop too, though.

Why can't you just wait to get home to play games.

I hate how we put so much value on "portability" these days

That's why I said potentially. Most desktop motherboards don't have WiFi built in.

But I've never heard of a laptop without WiFi.

Sometimes it's nice to play in different parts of the house anyway.

this. If I played on my desktop I would be coupled on my office glued to my desk alone. I play laying down next to my wife or downstairs while shes cooking

As far as that goes I play MTG Arena and slay the spire on my non gaming laptop. I wouldn't want to play something more twitchy without a place to set my mouse comfortably

As pure gaming machines they are underpowered and overpriced, but there is something to be said about portability.

I had one in college and that worked fine. If I wanted to go play in someone else's dorm room, apartment, or house it was easy. If I wanted to play in the living room or my bedroom or wherever, I easily had that option.

Now, I don't need that same mobility, so I have a much nicer desktop.
