Do you believe in God?

https://news.gallup.com/poll/268205/americans-believe-god.aspx

"How Many Americans Believe in God?
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Though a 2018 Gallup poll found that U.S. church membership has reached an all-time low of 50%, and one in five Americans does not identify with any religion, most of the country still expresses belief in God. Exactly how large that majority is, however, depends on how nuanced the response options are.

Gallup has asked this question three different ways in recent years, with belief varying across them from 87% to 64%.

The highest level of belief (87%) comes from a simple yes/no question, "Do you believe in God?" which Gallup last asked in 2017.

Belief drops to 79% when respondents are given three options, one being God is something they believe in. The rest are either not sure whether they believe in God or firmly say they do not believe in God.
Belief in God appears even lower when isolating just those from the five-part question who say they are "convinced" God exists, 64%. While all three measures of belief have exhibited declines, this group's drop has been the steepest.

The array of Gallup results leads to the conclusion that putting a percentage on Americans' belief in God depends on how you define "belief." If the standard is absolute certainty -- no hedging and no doubts -- it's somewhere around two-thirds. If the standard is a propensity to believe rather than not to believe, then the figure is somewhere north of three-quarters.

Gallup measures Americans' views on God and religion as part of its Values & Beliefs poll -- one of 12 surveys that make up the Gallup Poll Social Series."

Now now. God wept when he Jesus suffered for us. He cares. He loves. He sacrificed himself for the greater good.

Agnostic Atheist.

Anyone who says the only answer is yes or no doesn't know what they're talking about.

Why would you come to any conclusion on something that's impossible to know for sure? Incomplete data necessitates the only real conclusion: no one knows.

An all knowing, all powerful, benevolent, and intervening God does not exist.

Supernatural creater who's flawed but trying their best? Sure, I'll buy that. Doesn't mean I need to worship it or get a code of morality from it though.

I don't think it would be anything supernatural. But certainly in tune with physics we simply don't understand or maybe can't even perceive with our senses. Like dark matter and all that other shit.

slowly going through lucretius's on the nature of things (melville trans.). this belief seems to have been a component of the epicurean worldview he lays out in that work

i decided i was an atheist as soon as i learned the word in conversation with a friend about lue (the book, not the board), and doubled down for a bit when hitchens and dawkins exploded in popularity several years later. over time i began to consider, though, that lack of belief is very novel in the human experience. i believe that emulating the ancestral metabolic environment through dietary interventions is a good thing for human health -- what about emulating the ancestral brain? and i don't even mean hunter-gatherers. i mentioned lucretius above, and here's cicero:

Nemo igitur vir magnus sine aliquo adflatu divino umquam fuit ("there has never been a great man without some kind of divine inspiration")

functionally i suppose i'm agnostic, but i say i believe in god, and i'm making time to read the bible

When my daughter was 10, she asked me why do people still believe in god long after they realize the tooth fairy and Easter bunny arent real?

I purposefully never introduced her to any sort of theology or disbelief, because it sickens me to see toddlers brainwashed and indoctrinated into organized religion. I was very proud that my child connected those dots on her own.
