I'm about to start the ringed city dlc so I'm almost done with DS3. I want another fix of Dark souls, but I'm not really feeling the gameplay videos I see of the original Dark souls. There's less spectacle on the boss fights, and the gameplay doesn't look too exciting.

The physical world design and interconnectivity is better and the story is interesting but other than that, DS3 is much better and more refined.

I enjoyed it but dont expect the same experience.

I honestly never cared too much for interconnectivity. The shortcuts in 3 were cool I guess, but it didn't improve the game by tons. People said the same for Arkham Asylum as well but I found the sequels much better.

yea, how the world connects is pretty cool, but that's the only area that Dark Souls feels stronger than Dark Souls 3, IMO. but as far as actual level design goes, Dark Souls 3 is better.

anyway, you can't teleport from one bonfire to the other until about halfway into the game, that's why how the world connects is so important.

you also level up at bonfires and not from the fire keeper.

you can buy items from the blacksmith that allow you to store items, fix equipment, and level up weapons. and leveling up weapons is also pretty different, especially since there are about three or four blacksmiths that you can go to for different kinds of infusions, iirc.

and also the estus thing is different. you start out with five estus charges, and by kindling a bonfire, you get five more from that bonfire. and after meeting a certain requirement, you can get a max of 20 estus charges from a bonfire. so the amount of estus you have is reliant on whatever specific bonfire you last rested on.

3 is better, but playing 1 will still give you a good time and scratch that itch imo. If you haven't played Bloodborne or Sekiro, I'd recommend those more than DaS1.

Stable 60fps is real nice but it's a mixed bag imo of aspects that aged well (boss/sub boss enemy variety, world transitioning) and others that haven't aged well (stiffer combat and actual level design).
