To eliminate confusion, I do not support the CSA at all, I should have said Excuse instead of Defense, but IDK how to modify the TOPIC TITLE!!! Yes the CSA fought to preserve and extend slavery, but it never lasted a decade. How would the world had played out if the CSA seceded peacefully because a war torn CSA with an aggressive more industrial northern neighbor doesn't seem like a likely scenario lol. Bottomline, we never know how history would have played if the CSA was allowed to peacefully secede. Could it have learned from it's old ways? Maybe, could it have gotten worse? Maybe...We don't know lol. American, British, French, Dutch, and Spanish flags all flew on slave ships at some point in history and look at them today.

Nazi Germany is an outlier and was hell bent on fighting to preserve some ******* up ideology that even countries with standards considered bad today disagreed with. The CSA was fighting to preserve an economic system and slavery was still around during that time.

Is it better to eradicate slavery earlier? Is it worth the cost of an unknown future country's potential global contributions? I say yes, if only because slavery is an abomination. Also forces people to come up with alternatives, like new technology and automation.

Exactly, but unlike Brazil, the CSA had industrialization potential and would've been economically relevant. It would have definitely been a unique scenario lol.

Slavery was abolished eventually in countries that relied off of slavery more than the CSA.

I know, but I say what I did mainly because of how black people were treated in the south(and the rest of America, but especially the south) after the war.

Nope. The CSA was a wholly corrupted notion using the veneer of states' rights while caring very little about it. If you looked at the confederate constitution from the lense of being a document to advance and protect states' rights, it would be an utter failure compared to what they were leaving. It added some minor rights, took away some minor rights (and one major right that will be mentioned later), and enshrined no notable extra protections. Total hogwash.

But from the protection of slavery? Holy shit is it a strong document. It entrenched the protection of slavery into almost every section of the constitution, even in areas not really remotely connected to the issue, and notably took away the individual states' right to abolish slavery within their boundaries. It would've been borderline impossible to amend it to allow the abolishment of slavery barring starting all over again.

And the authors of the confederate constitution were the leading statesmen of the day. Senators, representatives, governors, state legislators, and judges well well-represented. They knew what their priorities were and exactly what they were trying to do when they crafted their constitution, which was essentially the U.S. Constituton with minor tweaks to non-slavery issues and extensive protection to slavery.

The CSA would've dissolved. Nobody was willing to recognize even if they won. But even if the CSA didn't dissolve, slavery would not have survived past the Spanish-American war. Probably much sooner, maybe within 5 years of the Civil War.
