It was the first miniseries of the cartoon, which was popular enough to greenlight a second miniseries (The Weather Dominator), which in turn led to the first full series (which itself started with the Pyramid of Darkness miniseries). The cartoon only ran for two seasons, after which it was essentially cancelled. They'd made a movie to sort of cap things off, but wound up only releasing it on TV/VHS rather than in theaters (as opposed to Transformers getting a theatrical release).

They technically brought it back for a "season three", but it was radically different, was produced by an entirely different studio, with cheaper animation budget, and pretty much everything about it was worse.

After that they've occasionally rebooted the franchise every now and then, but like most 80s kids, I don't really give a shit about any of it other than the original series.

Still moving, it stinks. I had dead skin removed from my stomach ulcer on Thursday, and as of today it still feels like she's cutting into my flesh right now. Because of the opioid crisis I got zero pain medication for my giant gaping wound, and I can't move to ky left side at all.

I've been watching way more GI Joe than is healthy for the human mind.

I'm getting tempted to go dig out my old Find-Your-Fate GI Joe books from 35 years ago and reread them again.

If this keeps going I may go completely insane, dig out the old Cobra Commander costume I made for Halloween like 15 years ago, and then just go around shouting at people in a loud raspy voice and trying to conquer the world.

I remember being that cartoon that Universal worked on that tried to be Gundam before it got cool. I was too young for GI Joe but I was more into TMNT when I was a kid and the early 90's were a great time for cartoons.

Kinda liking Entertainment Earth's new way of doing email blasts. Granted, the highlights often suck or are way off target, but it has a more personalized touch. I'm kinda struggling to remember the last time I actually bought anything from them, though. Their deals have never been all that great. Prior to mostly using Amazon, I think I just stuck to BBTS when I wanted merch.

Trying in general to cut down on merch, though.

Read the wiki for the novella and it seems like all of the time loop shit was just in the movie. Given that the original work was only 60 pages long, I suppose it makes sense that they had to find *some* way to bulk out the story but... wtf >_>

1408 kinda had the same problem. The actual story is relatively short, which is probably why the movie was such a clusterfuck of stupidity. I always liked the original and had hoped it'd be adapted, but they did pretty much everything they could think of to sour the experience for me right down to hiring John Cusack as the lead. That said, Samuel L Jackson was great as the hotel manager and I loved when he said, "I didn't say anything about ghosts, it's just an evil fucking room."

On a whim I went to BBTS and found that Four Horsemen -- the company that had been doing the sculpting/design work for Mattel's Masters of the Universe Classics (MotUC) line back when MattyCollector was a thing -- has added a few interesting "original" characters for its exclusive line:

Basically two catman warriors -- one sporting Battle Cat's design while the other is Panthor purple -- and a she-warrior who is strongly reminiscent of She-Ra.

It's neat that they've greatly expanded their Mythic line, but I wasn't that fond of paying $28 for the MotUC line and the price is almost double that. Granted, I did cave and pay around a hundred each for some of the Four Horsemen's previous minotaur line (and I think I paid $90 on the aftermarket for a MotUC Sorceress because those sold out almost immediately).

As for MattyCollector's old offerings, Super7 took them over a few years ago and, in some cases, seemingly reissued some of the old figures at a $40+ price tag. I think they did the same thing with the ThunderCats stuff, but now they're also producing new ThunderCats figures although they're $45 now (which I think is a ripoff, but I'm probably getting the Cheetara to go with the Mattel ones).

Bad shit happens every day and we're living in dark times in a fallen world. In the bigger picture, why would that day be any different than any other day? There are worse conflicts going on than the current riots in other countries daily that have been raging for years and haven't been manufactured and the world doesn't stop there because of them.

I couldn't care less about the PS5 Info itself, but the white on black text performative virtue signalling doesn't impress me much from any company. I don't care how McDonalds is "leveraging it's position within the community to affect positive change in a Covid world" anymore than I care how Sony America is posturing itself in the face of an issue they have literally nothing to do with. It's ant fucking and window dressing at best. I'm more annoyed that they think I'm swallowing the virtue signalling bullshit than I am at the delay.

As a black man I face discrimination everyday. My wife is white, my brother's girlfriend is white, my brother in law who died last month was mixed (half white and half black) my nieces are mixed because of that, and my best friend Bank Robber is mixed as well. (Half black and half Asian.) We are literally a blended family.

I say all that so I can tell you a story.

I went to have my right leg amputated a few years ago. I had a bone disease that just cripled my right side, and I was in pain every second of every day. Scarlett goes with me to the hospital to fill out the paperwork and be with me during surgery, as she is my wife.

The nurse ask us to fill out the paperwork. I'm in pain so I can barely focus, and Scarlett knows all my information so she begins to do the work for me. The lady stops her and says,

"Look, if he can't read then we have to do a verbal agreement. Even if you're his nurse you can't fill it out for him."

"Ma'am I can read, and she isn't my nurse. She's my wife, and I'm in pain, and she knows all my information. It's just easier if she fills it out. Is it the policy that she can't fill it out because other people are both filling out forms together?"

"No, it's not the policy."

"Then why is it different for us?"

"It just is."

That's why I was fine with Sony canceling the press conference. Sure all these companies saying they support BLM or whatever is window dressing. We all know that, as companies only care about one color, green. However, any distraction, however small takes anway from the point of the narrative, and that is if you're a person of color in America you start the race with a 30 second delay, and a thousand pounds of extra weighton each leg. We're always behind.

So, waiting a week or two isn't going to change anything, but it gives us another opportunity to have our message heard. To keep the focus on the Injustice. You may disagree, but at least give us another day before people forget we matter again.

tbh, I've had a lot of people pull "it's policy" on me over the years despite others nearby being seemingly unaffected. In high school and college, some of my employers gave me hell and threatened to write me up or fire me for shit they let slide with my co-workers. One sales job I'd constantly get bitched at for my tie not being tight enough or the fact that I liked to leave my top button unbuttoned, whereas they weren't even enforcing the tie part of the dress code for my male colleagues who, besides not wearing a tie, often had a button or two unbuttoned. When I questioned my boss on this, I was simply told to mind my own business.

I will say that, not being black, whenever I face arbitrary rules enforcement, my first thought usually isn't "racism!", just that the treatment seems unfair However, when they hired a new black colleague and started to push it on him as well -- while still not enforcing it on those others -- his first thought was racism. But he came from a culture where he was trained to think that any difference in treatment was likely the result of racism so that's sorta where his mindset was. The two of us would also get chewed out if we were caught eating on the sales floor, although some of the other co-workers got away with it and a manager had one of his girlfriends bring food one time which the two of them ate while out in the showroom.

And I'm sure that a lot of people who aren't subject to "policy" when I've experienced it have been subject to "policy" at other points in their life. And I'm sure that I probably haven't been subject to "policy" at some point in my own life, even though it usually feels like I get the short end of that stick unless I'm somehow able to talk my way out of it.

I meet the girl of my dreams, a Red Head no less, and I get sick. I'm in the hospital for 7 months and nearly die about a half dozen times. But I recover.

We are about to get married and my leg gets cut off. I get a robot leg and learn to walk again.

I reconnect with my drug addicted father who is now clean, he tells me about my secret half sister. Who too has kidney failure, who just had a stroke and can no longer talk or walk. So we can't actually reconnect. (I never told you guys about this one.)

My older brother Chris dies out of the blue.

Then Scarlett and I finally get a house, and my mother and brother in law die within a month of each other. One in her sleep peacefully, and the other I. A horrible motorcycle accident.

Our city had some minor riots and we're on a curfew from 7pm to 5am (excluding stuff like work), last night my fiancee and I went to a friends house away from downtown. She's feeling a bit better and we're back in the apartment.

We're approximately 2 or 3 blocks from where the tear gas is being deployed and the actual fight is.

Honestly, I sometimes wonder if I was that or close if we're to look back as far as October or November. I had gotten sick with a terrible cough, fatigue, runny nose... But I kept going to work. I took claritin every morning for a week, and drank loads of orange juice in the mornings and evenings. People all over work were getting sick as well from some weird thing. This was more than six months ago, so there's no real telling for certainty if this was the thing. I tell myself it wasn't, that the symptoms were a coincidence, but we do not know. An antibodies test might say I've had a thing at some point, but which strain and how long ago?

I am also wishing I was a few inches shorter and as many dozens of pounds lighter, too, if only because being an actual ninja seems sound right now. What I'd do with such physique and training, I couldn't tell you.

Meanwhile, my apartment's leasing office has already sent me a thing, ahead of schedule, saying I need to declare interest in staying within ten days, so I can begin a 120-day process of confirming my rate of pay isn't too high, or else I'll be issued a notice to vacate. Yeah, I'm staying for the time being despite my neighbors being so lousy (filthy, loud, and heavy smokers to boot), because not only can I not afford to be anywhere else at the moment, but I do not trust the police, even here in Oly, WA, not to show up with full riot gear while I'm looking at new apartments. Gods, I wouldn't put it past them to do this while I am going to work or coming home. If it wasn't for the law enforcement treating all protests as a battlefront for a war, I'd find too many decent apartments out of my reach financially because of the current requirement of monthly wages being thrice what rent is.

This is what lunacy looks like, and we could have done without it had things not been allowed to snowball since George Dubbya, or sooner. I'm trying to get my life in order, trying to get more stories of mine out there for people to enjoy, but this corner of the world is going to shit.

We shouldn't have to take all this. We shouldn't have to see the worst of American History rolled up into a single year. We shouldn't have so many woeful defenders of this crap who cannot see beyond the veil of Trump's rectal cavity. We shouldn't have good people dying or being injured because of the whims or desires of so few jackasses who would go as far as point their fingers and victim blame the very people they hurt.

It might be the end of the world because Scarlett's parents actually talked to me and then gave us a hundred bucks. We didn't need the money at the moment, a d didn't ask for it, but my birthday is Monday, so I'm going to just chalk it up to an early birthday gift.

The move is almost complete, and we just have to do final cleaning at the old house. Then we have to set up my electronics at the new house and then we are done. I even found my dead brother's long lost Playstation Vita. Scarlett bought me a memory card and a charger cable as they were missing, and I'm going to play Breath of Fire III and IV.

Overall, the move hasn't been too bad. The cats however are having a hard time adjusting to the move as they won't leave the master bedroom.

Chris didn't have any kids. He was getting sick as I got better when he let me borrow the Vita.

He was the best brother anyone could ask for. He took care of all of us, made sure we ate every day, protected us from gangs, drugs, or alcohol. He bought us video games we wanted, took us to R rated films when we were way too young to see them. He beat up my father when he tried to hurt us when he was messed up on drugs.

Chris was my father in all but name. He showed up to Parent/Teacher conferences, he saw my terrible high school plays, he drove me home from chess club meetings. He was just there for me growing up. I loved him, and he was too busy raising all of us to have kids of his own.

I'd trade that Vita for more time with jim. No question.
