I will reiterate how for me there is NO debate on physical Vs. digital for the Switch. You're doing yourself a disservice by having physical Switch games and missing out on one of the major strong points the Switch has. It is fucking amazing having my entire console library in my pocket at all times.

Like I literally took my entire library across the WORLD and was able to play all of my games with my niece in the Philippines.

I personally can't stand using the Switch in handheld mode due to the reduction of quality, so not really a strength there.

I prefer physical on a theoretical level but gotta admit in reality with a modern console, I prefer digital. Part of that is how a good deal of physical games you buy now anyway still need internet updates first off, so it's not like just buying something in physical form is a guarantee that the package is 100% complete like it (obviously) used to mean back in the day.

Physical. Because I trade my games after I beat them. Which is why my collection is always so small. I don't like keeping a game after I beat it once or twice. If I was to buy digital I'd be stuck with a game forever and never could trade them for other ones

This.

It doesn't take up much more space to pack your dock and plug if you need docked mode. And when you get where you're going you just plug it into any TV since they all will have at least one HDMI. I did that when my company put me in a hotel for a week due to a blizzard.

Physical do that I can still play the game in 10 years. I make exceptions for digital for online games that I might want to play on a whim rather than keeping the game in my system until I beat it.

If I were to travel abroad I can just bring the carts with me, they dont take up much space at all. The only inconvenience for myself is swapping carts, but that barely takes time. Years down the road I have the option to sell my collection or pass it down, etc.

Let's take PS3 for an example. I currently own about 60 PS3 games, and nearly every single one of them is now available in one way or another elsewhere, whether it's a PS4 remaster, PS Now, etc.

If my PS3 collection burned in a fire OR they shut down the PSN, that small handful of likely irrelevant games that hasn't been made available anywhere else can then be re-bought physically for $5 bucks at a used game store.

Compared to the convenience of just having everything digital and assuming everything will be fine, i'll take digital.

Sure i'm buying them again, but i'm likely buying remastered and improved versions anyway so it's a worthy purchase.
Again, the home fire is not an inevitably, especially if you invest in proper protections. It is far more likely you'll sell your old game collection than burn it, and with the rising price of older games you may actually make decent cash on some stuff. And if you did lose your game collection in a fire, you may be able to recoup some losses in property insurance anyway.

But the inevitable loss of goods matters to some people, which is perfectly reasonable imo.

For me, I simply like collecting them. Eventually I will ideally be playing these games from digital backups anyway. That's how I play everything the PS360 era, although I still collect older games physically.
