Shes play other fighting games with me like Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom and Smash bros. Personally, Im ok with it but her mom, my mom and my girlfriend are against it.

I wouldn't hand an 11 year old Mortal Kombat and walk away while saying "have fun" but depending on the kid, a conversation about violence and fiction could occur before we played together.

on the other hand, 11 year old me was playing Mortal Kombat and GTA alone so perhaps I'm being overcautious

I played the first one at a way younger age than her, but honestly some of the fatalities in the modern ones make me cringe (in a "damn, that's disgusting" way) even as a 30 year old man.

I played MK1 as a child, but hesitate to let children play MK11

but mortal kombat nowadays is like 10x more violent than it was before so i dunno

Yeah a lot of people played M rated games when they were kids but modern MK is so much more realistic and over the top gross compared to games 15-20 years ago.

Thats the thing, I was 7 when I first played MK and my mom bought me that game. Now MK then is way different than MK now but shes super intelligent. Fuck, shes in AP classes at a private school. Way smarter than I was at her age.

True story: when she was 8 she woke up, fired up GTAV and just drove around. She spawned as franklin in his Vinewood house and managed to drive all the way to sandy shores without getting a wanted level. She hasnt played it since but I was like damn girl, not too shabby

How old were you when you first played Mortal Kombat? I guarantee she's seen videos of it/possibly seen you play it, so the best thing to do is just emphasize the fictional nature of it.

I let my 6 yo play violent games like GTA V and COD. I parent him well he knows not to act like a shithead. He doesn't get to hear the swearing though...that won't happen until he's 12 or 13 even though he knows swear words.

it seems like you want her to play, then why does our opinions matter? you ovbiously know more about your daughter's capabilities than everyone here put together so why ask us? if you think she could handle it and want her to play with you then go for it

COD is BO4 which he doesn't care for anymore. If people were swearing on mics I'd lower the volumn. GTA he only does bank heist at times for storymode otherwise he does freeroam with a bit of online stuff on muted. He's getting back into Minecraft and likes Fortnite again.

I tried for about 2 weeks letting him swear freely in the house within context and playing video games while swearing but I stopped that. He's too young to know when to cool it down. I told him how at his age I knew swear words also, but I realized pretty quick it's best right now not to go that direction. When he's 12+ he can swear openly long as every 2nd word isn't a swear word. I'd let him play MK with me I got no issue with that. It's all about how you parent them and he knows not to walk outside the house and try to fight people. He's pretty knowledge at his age. I remind him any fuck ups and the console is legit gone.

It's more than blood and guts, it's realistic (ish) human gore, bone crunching in graphic detail, beheading, etc.

Then mk 11 should be perfectly fine. After finding this out it makes the question stupid. She has seen animals murdered and butchered, playing a videogame with pretend blood and violence should not be an issue

Also the fact that you already took the kid hunting makes me think you're just using this topic to brag about how awesome a parent you think you are to CE, you don't give a shit about our fucking opinions either, you already made up your mind on what to do with your kid before making this topic. Ive made dozens of topics in the past about taking her hunting with me over the years. And I made it clear Im ok with her playing the game with me in the op. Ive just got 3 women in my life saying no but my mom bought me MK when I was 7 and my ex and girlfriend both played it around the same age and are also saying no. Im not wasting your time dude, Im simply gauging the crowd.

Quartering is when you butcher the deer by removing the forequarters (shoulders), the hindquarters (hams) and the backstraps from the carcass.

There's a limit for children when it comes to excessive gratuitous violence for children.

Wait until she's 16 to play Mortal Kombat (Any of the franchise) with.

Just stick to:
Street Fighter series, King of Fighters, Capcom vs Marvel, Smash Bros series, etc.

Series that have excessive gore, blood, and guts should be held back until she's older.

Murder is exclusive to humans. And you said it yourself, quartering is butchering not slaughter. We eat what we kill and donate what we can. Even scrape and tan the skins. But its not murder or slaughter.

As a parent that doesn't just let my kids watch ot play whatever they want without supervision, I would absolutely let my kids play MK 11 if they were playing with me. My kids are almost 7 and 5. I watch things like Rick and Morty or Harley Quinn with them, my son had been playing Bloodborne since he was 4. I don't sensor anything from my kids, I just help put it into perspective for them and do my best to insure they understand that somethings in entertainment are not ok in the real world. I make sure they can separate entertainment from reality. Kids are very intelligent if they are raised right.
