Seriously, he may have an explanation about that and it may be true, but watch Game Grumps videos for awhile (especially the game show ones), and it's fully obvious that he is a highschool dropout.

Highschool dropout or not, he's made a successful business.

But like anyone, he just has an opinion on games and often simply refuses to put any effort into something if he's made up his mind on it, even before playing it. And often bases those opinions of misinformation or him refusing to pay attention to information the game gives him.

I mean he got his GED, graduating high school isn't really a measure of intelligence.

He's an entertainer, though. GameGrumps isn't about the gameplay. Its 2 comedians making jokes with each other or telling stories unrelated to the game as it is. he's not the "ok and now we're gonna try and get this crystal...and we got the crystal, nice", type of lets player. Watching a tutorial is boring. I'm sure he vets the games and goes through the tutorials before playing them, most of the time, or does so in his personal playthroughs, but that's not what the Youtube channel is about. Its not really fair to judge him based on that.

Egoraptor is just a more successful version DSP

his Castlevania and Megaman Sequelitisvideos were well thought out, but by the time he did his Zelda Sequelitis, he left all that behind and just whined about parts of the game he didn't like.

then they played OoT on Game Grumps and he had no idea what was going on.

Arin and Dan are both very, very intelligent people. I can't believe people think they are "idiots"?

I don't think any of you know how hard it is to play games with the same guy for six years and still find conversations that lead somewhere, or are funny, or entertaining. They take issues of the day and bring it on the show and keep it fresh with banter and they actually listen to what eachother has to say. I occasionally pop them on and I'm surprised how they find a way to make something fun, even if it's not really that fun.

Erin is just like Dunkey--he wants to go straight to the fun. I still think he has valid points as a game critic, but we are talking about video games....although not as subjective as traditional art people's taste in games varies widely.

Like, I understand Digimon World on the PS1 is not a great game but I still enjoy it.

He does kind of expect people to take his opinion as gospel though. There are videos where Dan seems pretty into a game and Arin just shits all over it until Dan stops being excited.

I refrain from attacking or joking about Arin for dropping out of HS and getting his GED instead because it's not like he dropped out because he was a fuckup or was too dumb. He was going to a well to do privileged school and then his family moved and his mom didn't want him to go to the bad school that was in the district they moved to so she made him drop out. At the end of the day he owns an extremely successful channel and was popular before that as well.

That said, a lot of his criticisms for games come from just being bad at them like I previously stated. Such as the whole thing about bitching at OoT for having to wait during combat when deku nuts are a thing or complaining that MM is too hard when he did no side quests whatsoever which is the strong point of the game, and got to the final dungeon with like 7 hearts before rage quitting despite seeing multiple attainable heart pieces throughout the playthrough that he announced he saw them and willingly chose not to get them for whatever reason. Or like when he bitched about Z-targeting in Zelda (despite not being mandatory you can free form combat if you want) but in other games complains there isn't a lock on option when combat is too hard, well which is it Arin?

Yeah but Dan has a lot more interesting stories to tell. If I had to pick one of the 3 to hang out with for a day it'd definitely be Dan. But I do agree it was fun when Arin and Jon would argue sometimes, Dan does seem docile and noncombative/nonconfrontational but I think it's more to do with him wanting to keep the show running smoothly. He also cares about progress being made in episodes a lot so he'll most often be the one saying they need to fast forward when Arin is sucking ass at a game. I do wish he would actually play games more aside from the board game/game show games they as well. Gameplay was pretty balanced between Jon and Arin when it was them.

I only know Egoraptor from Newgrounds. It's a shame that what he's infamous for now is all of his shitty Game Grumps takes.

I saw they started it back up, haven't watched it yet. I may get on that though in the old episodes before they took a hiatus from the game he defaulted to Arin a little bit which kind of bothered me, but like I said Dan wants progress to be made so I understand it.

Dan actually talks about it in one of the early episodes. He said he was going through a horrible break up and just lost his love for playing games and was in a bad place. It's actually why he decided to replay the game because he loves it but his heart wasn't in the first one
