https://www.essentiallysports.com/gta-6-launch-year-revealed-by-marketing-budget-rockstar-esports-news/

"Take-Two Interactive, the publishing studio behind GTA, recently filed a 10-K SEC. The filing, shows that the company expects to spend a whopping $89 million on marketing between the period of April 1, 2023, and March 32, 2024.

So, if the analysis proves to be correct, we have another 3 to 4 years of a wait ahead of us until the next GTA entry. While that may seem like a long time, time flies. We can, hopefully, expect a teaser sometime in the following 12-18 months. All this is, of course, considering there are no delays in development."

Ah well I was planning on skipping next gen console and getting PS6 shortly after launch. It will probably play GTA 6 <_<

There are still customers to be milked by GTA online.

But it also could mean they are possibly still working on a good single player experience instead of just making GTA Online 2. I'm fine with waiting when it comes to Rockstar games.

Also hoping the new GTAO includes multiple cities.

Who cares, there are so many other games to play and GTA V is still fun.

This is NOT like the GTA IV years where GTA fans were begging for a more fun less serious GTA game and could not wait for GTA V to return the fun. We are not in some bleak dark time stuck in the shit stain that is Liberty City nor do we have a barebones game we are stuck with.

GTA 6 will get here when it gets here, RDR 2 is keeping people entertained for a Rockstar game, or GTA V is still keeping people engaged.

I keep saying this, they have the ultimate business model already. They'll release GTA6 mid- to late- into the next generation's life and then rerelease it with updates and quality of life improvements fairly early into the generation after next. And it'll be the most profitable damn game for both generations.

Rinse and repeat. GTA is now a once a decade+ franchise until they stop making money hand over fist with basic online maintenance/updates.

Oh, and btw, watch GTA5 get rereleased again early next generation as well.

GTA bore was the least fun game in the series, GTA 5 is so much better for gameplay, the location not being city only, and so many weapons, cars, and customization options. I hated how bare bones 4 was and so did many others.

Because none of it really matters?

Clothing has remained more or less the same since SA, including the game you hate.

Customising cars is completely unnecessary doesn't become a factor determining success at any point in the story.

Weapons was also a non-starter because the combat is so ludicrously easy in these games.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you enjoyed those features, but they added nothing of value for me. The story wasn't all that and none of the extras were even remotely satisfying for me, so I didn't like it.

The PS2 trilogy was great.

GTA4 was a dull mess.

GTA5 was a fun romp for a couple dozen hours, but I got bored with it within a few months of release and never came back to it, especially as I don't care for online multiplayer.

My inputs on the series. The last doesn't matter as that made all money,

It's weird how 5 barely had anything to do with any cartels when it's set in a fictional version of LA. They had Mandrazo, who I thought at first was going to be the main antagonist, but he turned into a joke later on.

5 just felt like a weird game to me. It's good, but it's just not a traditional GTA game like all of the previous games were.

It's just odd how it's structured. Honestly probably my least favorite single player experience in the series, but I haven't played it for years. Maybe I would like it better on another playthrough, but I didn't enjoy it as much as III, Vice City, SA, or IV. Honestly I think it would be better if you were Franklin the whole time. Trevor is funny, but it kind of takes away from the typical GTA experience to split the protagonist into 3 different characters. Maybe they should have had Trevor and Michael be NPCs that you meet as the story goes on. It's also ridiculous how fast you get to be rich as fuck with the nicest cars and huge safehouses. In the other games that stuff is done later. In GTA V you just get thrown into having all of this shit with no structure or meaning behind it. Franklin just meets Michael and before you know it he has some huge ass house in the Hollywood Hills, but you still have to go back to the hood with him. Same with Trevor, he's portrayed as living in the boonies in a trailer, but you automatically have hundreds of thousands of dollars at your disposal to buy basically everything you want as soon as you unlock him and you can free roam the map if you want to so you can drive straight into Los Santos as soon as you're able to control him.

Maybe it would have been better if they were separated for longer and the game had "locked out" parts of the map for the first 20 or so hours going between the three before they met up. It just didn't come off as a very cohesive narrative to me. Michael and Franklin just meet up at random and it's like "Big jewelry store heist mission you in? Okay." Then Trevor comes all the way to Los Santos and you're expecting stuff and he's just like "Hey Michael let's go do some shit." and Michael is just like "Okay! This is Franklin! Let's go do some shit!" then the game goes along with it.

Yeah you're right. The rags to riches aspect from the previous games is pretty much gone. I'm replaying it right now actually, and while I've liked it and still like it, it does seem rushed or like they changed things halfway through. It seems like Michael was originally going to be the only protagonist since he's focused on so much, but they came up with the 3 character thing later.

In Franklin's trailer they showed a lot more hood/gangsta related stuff. While Franklin is trying to get out of all that we still only have like 3-4 missions of him doing gang related stuff. A lot of that got rushed through it seems and there's barely any street gang related stuff. We barely get to know Stretch and he becomes an antagonist later on. The very last mission with option C was super rushed as well. All the loose ends got quickly tied up.

I think they saw that fans would love to play as Trevor so they must have put him in later.

Having them meet so quick and having everything be open from the start took another thing away from the series even if it's minor. Unlocking different sections of the map was a staple of the series. I'm sure they could have found a way to keep things more separate.

My problem with V is that in a way it's more of a mercenary/secret agent game than a crime game. Most of the heists you do, which were a big part of the game, are done for the government. San Andreas and IV had stuff like that too, but they weren't a huge part of the game and I thought some of Toreno's missions were too over the top even for SA. They wanted the game to be very much like the movie Heat and being a part of this awesome stick up crew sounds a lot more cooler than being government lap dogs.

I haven't played 3, Vice or LC in years so I can't recall much. But in terms of 5's storyline and having finished it this year I kinda felt the same at times. Gameplay was nice but I missed the 5 stars and the military shows up. I would have enjoyed a few more heist missions. SA was like the full package. The ending as I mentioned was rushed. The FIB getting involved was a bit meh I was expecting more once they got involved. And switching between the guys at times was meh during mission. All 3 characters were well done. The fact they met up and did shit right away didn't really bother me cause it's a game not a 100% real storyline with focus on realism.

The game's main point I think was the online factor. Going into the casino and gambling offline would be nice instead of just dealing with the stock market. SA with horse gambling was nice. Slot machine being used in the casino would have been nice. Minor things like that were bust. 6 might go the same direction with more focus on online cause lets face it that's where Rockstar is making big money on.

Yeah having everything readily available on the map was cool, but unlocking it slowly would have been nice. Many things like you guys said did seem rushed.

I thought the game would have been much better if Trevor was the antagonist and you got to play half of it from his point of view, and then you got to really decide at the end which one you wanted to side with. Maybe if he double fucked Michael beyond repair and Trevor made it his life's mission to kill Michael causing Michael to have to kill Trevor.

The "kill Michael" and "kill Trevor" endings always felt like "what ifs" to me. Franklin had very little reason to commit to either (unless you believe he was secretly paranoid of one or both of them) and whichever one you kill, the other one regrets you doing it even if they hated each other at the time.
