Tag Team Tournament

Match 1: Pikachu/Pichu vs. Ice Climbers/Duck Hunt

Sephiroth: Pikachu is coming fresh off of a win while Pichu suffered a defeat earlier this week, so which trend will continue in this match?

*Pikachu and Duck Hunt take a lot of damage early. Ice Climbers are holding up the best and nearly KO Pikachu with a side-smash. However, in their attempt to follow up to finish the job, the Ice Climbers self-destruct. Pikachu just keeps taking a bunch of punishment while avoiding the knockout blow, but eventually Duck Hunt hits their up-smash to send him flying at 170%. Immediately after that, Duck Hunt knocks Pichu off the side, and when he tries to get back to the stage with his side-B, they follow it up with their side-smash for another KO*

Crono: Duck Hunt is, well, on the hunt!

*Pikachu returns and catches Duck Hunt in the air with his neutral-air for the KO. Pikachu and Pichu team up to knock the Ice Climbers off the side, who then botch their up-B recovery again when Nana grabs onto the side and isnt there to give Popo the rope he needs, so he falls for another KO. Duck Hunts Final Smash Gauge fills and they catch Pichu in it for the KO. Then Pikachus gauge fills up and he catches both opponents in it, KOing Duck Hunt and dealing heavy damage to the Ice Climbers*

Sephiroth: So much death and destruction going on out there. I love it.

*A Smash Ball appears. The Ice Climbers grab it and immediately use it, catching both Pikachu and Pichu with the peak for a double KO. Pikachu doggedly pursues after the Climbers upon his return, taking the fight off the side and once again knocking them down below too far to recover. Pichu gets his Final Smash but both opponents are too low in percentage to land a KO. However, shortly thereafter, Pikachu chases the Climbers off the side and yet again knocks them beyond recovery for the KO*

Crono: Uh oh, Pikachu looks like hes found a weakness he can exploit. The Ice Climbers gotta find a way to shore that up.

*Pikachu and Pichu hang around at high percentages, but Duck Hunt and Ice Climbers cant quite land KOs. Duck Hunt hits Pikachu with a projectile that nearly gets the job done, but it also fills up his Final Smash Gauge and he uses it to blast Duck Hunt for the KO and deal some extra damage to the Climbers. Duck Hunt is able to catch Pikachu with their neutral-air for the KO, and then the Ice Climbers slam Pichu with their up-smash to KO him as well, but both Pokemon were at around 160% before getting knocked out*

Sephiroth: Those were some brutal shots, but they let the Pokemon hang around way too long.

*Duck Hunt gets their Final Smash and catch Pichu with it for good damage, but his percentage is too low for the KO. Pikachu focuses on dealing more damage to the Climbers and once more knocks them beyond recovery for a KO. A Smash Ball appears, and the Ice Climbers get it again. However, they cant get a KO but build up some good damage. However, Pichu gets his Final Smash in the process and nails Duck Hunt for the KO with only 15 seconds left. Then the Ice Climbers hit Pichu with their up-smash for a KO with less than 5 seconds to go*

Sephiroth: Pikachu and Pichu win, +1 to -1! That was a wild fight from beginning to end.

Crono: Both Pikachu and the Ice Climbers racked up 6 KOs, but Pikachu only took 3 KOs to the Ice Climbers 5, which made the difference in the end, as Duck Hunt could only get two KOs of their own. All four fighters put up good damage numbers though.

Match 2: Corrin/Robin vs. Wario/Wolf

Sephiroth: Weve already seen Corrin and Robin in action, but this is our first peek at Wario and Wolf, so it should be interesting to see how they comport themselves.

*Both sides fight evenly and fight hard, and then it gets chaotic as all four fighters battle off the left side of the stage. There are a few close calls, particularly when Corrin gets bounced off the underside of the stage, but the only one who gets KOd in the tumult is Wolf. Everyone else has racked up a lot of damage, and Wario eventually KOs Corrin with an air attack. Corrin comes back dealing good offense and mitigating his own damage as he battles with Wolf. Eventually, Robin catches Wario with his side-smash for a KO*

Crono: Wow, theres nothing quite like seeing all four characters hanging in the balance off the side duking it out.

*Wolf gets his Final Smash and catches Corrin with it and deals good damage, but no KO. Then Corrin and Robin both get their Final Smashes at nearly the same time. Robin catches Wario with his but fails to KO him, and then Corrin KOs Wolf with his. Wario catches Robin with his side-smash immediately after to finally knock him out for the first time*

Sephiroth: Robin held on for a long time before taking his first KO. That could work to their advantage in the end.

*Wario gets his Final Smash and catches Robin with it when he comes back. A Smash Ball appear right after, and Wario gets another Final Smash. This time, he pummels Corrin for the KO. The Fire Emblem fighters try to fight at long distance with their projectiles, but Wario and Wolf keep closing the distance. Wario hits Robin with his up-smash for a KO. Robin returns and gets a revenge KO on Wario right after*

Crono: Wario with the rare back-to-back Final Smash!

*After some more fighting, Robin gets his Final Smash. Both fighters try to keep him from using it, but he manages to unleash it on Wario for a KO. Then Wolf catches Corrin with his side-smash for a KO of his own. Wolf gets his Final Smash shortly thereafter but misses when he tries to use it. Corrin makes Wolf pay for his mistake by nailing him with a dash attack for the KO. However, at nearly the same time, Warios Final Smash activates and he bashes Robin with it for a KO*

Sephiroth: Wario seems to be pulling his (admittedly sizable) weight out there, but Wolf missed a big opportunity to help out his team.

*Corrin gets his Final Smash and hits Wolf with it for good damage. Wario becomes the target of both opponents ire as they rapidly build up his damage, and then Corrin KOs him with an up-smash. A Smash Ball appears, and Corrin grabs that, hitting Wario with it as soon as he comes back. Robin gets his Final Smash, but Wario KOs him before he can use it. Robin blasts Wolf as he tries to come back to the stage for a KO with only a few seconds remaining*

Sephiroth: Corrin and Robin win, +1 to -1! That last second KO proved to be the difference maker.

Crono: Wario was extremely efficient out there, putting up the best score and the most total KOs despite dealing the least amount of damage, but got very little help from Wolf, who only got 1 KO of his own and took 4 KOs. Corrin and Robin worked well together and didnt make any serious mistakes.

More matches later.

Match 3: Little Mac/Wii Fit Trainer vs. Kirby/Jigglypuff

Sephiroth: The puffballs have been lighting it up individually, so how will they do when they team up?

*Little Mac comes out viciously attacking Kirby and nearly sending him flying at a low percentage. Jigglypuff is fighting efficiently, dealing out good damage to both opponents while not taking much herself. Kirby baits Little Mac toward the edge and uses his jumping advantage to KO him below the stage. Little Mac is not happy about that, as he comes right back and pummels Kirby with a barrage of blows for the KO. Jigglypuff continues to rack up damage on Wii Fit Trainer and looks ready to finish her off when Little Mac grabs a Smash Ball and blasts Jigglypuff with it for the KO. When she returns, Jigglypuff finishes the job by clobbering Wii Fit Trainer with her side-smash for a KO*

Crono: Kirby and Jigglypuff working well together to start this match.

*Jigglypuff gets her Final Smash but misplays it by using it above the side of the stage. Kirby gets his Final Smash as well and catches Wii Fit Trainer with it but cant KO her. Wii Fit Trainer returns the favor by pushing Kirby off the side with her own Final Smash for the KO. When Kirby returns, he pounds on Little Mac for a bit and then hits up with an up-smash to send him flying off the screen for the KO. Wii Fit Trainer hits Jigglypuff with a fully charged projectile but doesnt quite get the KO. Jigglypuff catches Little Mac with her down-B for a quick KO. Literally the instant he returns, he hits Jigglypuff with a smash attack for the revenge KO*

Sephiroth: Talk about instant gratification!

*Little Mac caught Kirby with that attack as well, but he manages to stay afloat. When Jigglypuff returns, she goes after Wii Fit Trainer and KOs her with a side-smash. A Smash Ball appears and Jigglypuff gets it. She uses it a little better this time but cant quite KO anyone. Then the other three fighters get their Final Smashes at nearly the exact same time. Little Mac goes first but misses and nearly self-destructs off the side. Kirby goes next and nails Wii Fit Trainer for the KO, and Jigglypuff knocks Little Mac off the side beyond recovery for another KO a moment later*

Crono: Sometimes the difference between winning and losing is using your Final Smashes well.

*When Wii Fit Trainer returns, she chases down Kirby and finally nails him with an up-air to send him flying at 155%. Jigglypuff catches Little Mac with her down-B again, which he does not appreciate and side-smashes her while shes asleep. Wii Fit Trainer gets her Final Smash again and once again uses it to KO Kirby. Little Mac then smashes Jigglypuff with a fully charged KO punch, which has the intended effect. Kirby beats up on Little Mac for a while before KOing him with the side-smash with less than 30 seconds left*

Kirby and Jigglypuff win, +1 to -1. Once again, the late KO decides the match.

Crono: This was a very evenly fought match from everyone, as Jigglypuff posted a +1, Kirby and Wii Fit Trainer posted 0s, and Little Mac posted a -1. They were all between 400-500% in terms of damage given and taken.

Match 4: Ryu/Ken vs. Mii Brawlers (Toad/Skull Kid)

Sephiroth: Weve got two teams who are comfortable using their fists, so this should be an old-fashioned slobberknocker, as they say.

*Ryu and Ken start off with the early advantage, racking up damage with their specials. The two Brawlers gradually settle down and overtake them in percentage. Skull Kid catches Ryu with a meteor strike for a brutal KO. They team up on Ken to try to get him next but cant quite finish him off. Ryu knocks Toad off the side and the two Street Fighters in tandem jump off and blast him with their side-airs for the KO. Unfortunately, Ryu put himself too far out there, so he cant get back and self-destructs*

Crono: That was some good teamwork, but you cant undo your hard work with a silly mistake like that.

*Toad gets his Final Smash and quickly catches Ken in it for the KO. Ryu gets his Final Smash shortly thereafter and times it just right to catch both Brawlers in its blast. Skull Kid gets KOd but Toad just barely manages to make it back. Shortly after returning, Ryu manages to trap Skull Kid under the stage and KOs him at a very low percentage*

Sephiroth: As they say, you must recover! Skull Kid didnt learn even this basic lesson, it seems.

*Skull Kid gets his Final Smash and baits Ken into it, who goes sky high but narrowly avoids the KO. Ken gets his Final Smash as well, but he misplays it when he tries to use it off the side to catch Toad in it. When a Smash Ball appears, all four of them fight over it, but Ryu and Ken manage to knock both Brawlers away for a double KO. However, Skull Kid grabs the Smash Ball right as he respawns and pummels Ryu with it for a KO*

Crono: I dont know how the Street Fighters still managed to let one of the opponents grab the Smash Ball after that. They might regret that one.

*Ryu and Skull Kid take the fight off the side of the stage, but Skull Kid misplays his up-B recovery attempt and plummets helplessly for a KO. Ryu gets his Final Smash and catches Toad with it, but it isnt enough to get the KO. As Ryu tries to trap Toad under the stage by bouncing him off the underside, he uses his recovery move to simultaneously KO Ken as he grabs the ledge. Toad gets his Final Smash and tries to use it on Ken off the side of the stage, but he misses and Ken punishes him with a meteor strike for the KO. A moment later, Ryu knocks Skull Kid beyond recovery for another KO. However, in the process, Ryu botches his own recovery and self-destructs*

Sephiroth: We keep seeing a pattern with both Ryu and Skull Kid struggling to get back to the stage in situations that shouldnt be taking them out.

*Ken gets his Final Smash but once again whiffs trying to catch Toad with it. Ryu gets his Final Smash and doesnt miss, but he cant quite KO either Brawler with it. Ken knocks Skull Kid off the underside of the stage with his up-B for a late KO with 20 seconds left. Skull Kid gets a late Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. Toad sends Ryu flying at the last second, but time expires*

Sephiroth: Ryu and Ken win, +3 to -3! Thats definitely the most decisive tag team victory weve seen thus far.

Crono: Both Street Fighters had positive scores and both Brawlers had negative scores. Skull Kid should have been the star of the show, dealing 600% damage while only taking 300%, but he took a lot of bad KOs and probably ultimately cost his team the match in the process.

Match 5: Mii Gunners (Sans/Cuphead) vs. Mii Swordfighters (P3/P4 Protagonists)

Sephiroth: Its Miis everywhere in this tag team battle!

*The Gunners take a decisive advantage in percentage early as the Swordfighters just cant seem to close the distance. It doesnt take long before Cuphead sends the P3 Protag out with his projectile. When a Smash Ball appears, the P4 Protag grabs it, but Sans knocks it out of him before he can use it. Eventually, the Smash Ball just floats away with no one claiming it*

*The P4 Protagonist keeps taking a beating, but he just wont go away. He lasts up until 225% before Cuphead finally sends him out with a side-smash. The P3 Protag gets his Final Smash but opts to hold onto it. The two Swordfighters knock the two Gunners off the side. Cuphead manages to get back, but Sans falls down for the KO. A little later, the P3 Protag uses his Final Smash to KO Cuphead*

*Sans gets his Final Smash and uses it to KO the P3 Protag and deal good damage to the P4 Protag, but hes able to get back to the stage. All four fighters brawl off the side of the stage and Cuphead obliterates the P3 Protag with a meteor strike for a KO. The P4 Protag gets his Final Smash and hits Sans with it. It doesnt instantly KO him, but hes pushed too far away to get back*

*Cuphead gets his Final Smash and holds off on using it despite a couple of prime opportunities to catch both Swordfighters in it. He nearly sends the P4 Protag flying off with a side attack and tries to chase after him, but the P4 Protag actually catches Cuphead with his up-B trying to recover and KOs him. Sans knocks the P4 Protag away again, but he doesnt make the same mistake as Cuphead, hitting him with the follow-up for a KO. When the P4 Protag returns, he chases down Sans and KOs him with an air attack*

*Another Smash Ball appears, and the P4 Protag grabs it as the P3 Protag gets his Final Smash and uses it immediately. Sans gets pushed away but manages to get back this time. Sans get his Final Smash and catches the P3 Protag with his for a KO. Cuphead knocks the Smash Ball out of the P4 Protag, and once again, it floats away with no one claiming it. The P3 Protag KOs Cuphead with a side-air with 10 seconds left for a KO. Cuphead tries to blast the P4 Protag at the last moment but cant quite get the job done*

*Its Super Sudden Death! The P3 Protag immediately blasts Cuphead for a KO and then follows it up with an up-air on Sans to win the match*

Sephiroth: The Mii Swordfighters win! That felt like two very evenly matched teams the whole way through, and thats how it played out.

Crono: The P4 Protagonist turned out to be the key to the match, as his incredible endurance resulted in him only getting KOd twice in the entire match despite taking over 100% more damage than anyone else. He was the only fighter with a positive score.

Free for All Tournament

Match 1: Young Link vs. Ice Climbers vs. Wario vs. Duck Hunt

Sephiroth: Weve got a tag team here fighting separately after losing their tag battle earlier in the week. Will we see any pent up frustrations come out during the match?

*Ice Climbers and Duck Hunt exchange a few hits at the very beginning of the match and then move on. Duck Hunt awkwardly gets caught under one of the platforms and self-destructs for an early KO at a low percentage. Wario takes a lot of punishment from the Ice Climbers and Young Link. As the stage flips, an explosive item drops, and everyone but Wario gets caught by it, but none of them get KOd. Everyone plays it risky by fighting on the lower left ledge of the stage as it gets ready to flip again. Duck Hunt gets launched and lands safely above with no worries as they get their Final Smash. A box drops and the Ice Climbers slam Wario with it for the KO*

Crono: This is the kind of chaos you only get in this format!

*The Ice Climbers are stuck on the stray platform and cant get back to the normal stage as the fight moves away from them. Wario catches Duck Hunt with his side-smash for the KO. Wario gets his Final Smash and catches both Duck Hunt and Young Link in it, but only Young Link gets KOd by it. A Smash Ball appears and Wario gets that, too. As the stage turns again, the Ice Climbers helplessly and inevitably fall to their doom*

Sephiroth: I have a feeling were going to see a lot of deaths just like that one throughout the day!

*However, now Duck Hunt is stuck on the lone platform under the stage and cant seem to get back to the main stage. When the Ice Climbers reappear, they knock the Smash Ball out of Wario and claim it for themselves. They use it right away and this actually enables Duck Hunt to escape their island prison and get back to the stage. Wario takes heavy damage but survives. Young Link gets his Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. Young Link gets knocked off the stage and tumbles to the lone platform down below right as the stages gets ready to turn again*

Crono: Who wouldve guessed that someone would actually be benefitted by being hit by a Final Smash?

*Wario and Young Link are fighting on one side, and Duck Hunt and the Ice Climbers are fighting on the other side. Eventually, Wario and Young Link go and join the melee on the other side. Young Link gets a Crash Bomber, but for some reason, tries to use it with no one around. Duck Hunt gets his Final Smash and catches the Ice Climbers in it, but their percentage is still low, so it doesnt KO them. The Ice Climbers nail Wario with an up-smash for the KO*

Sephiroth: Its still hard to tell if theres any resentment between Duck Hunt and the Ice Climbers. They dont seem to be making any sort of concerted effort to target each other at any rate.

*Duck Hunt assembles an item and hits Wario with it, but since hes just come back, it does heavy damage but doesnt finish him off. This also fills up his Final Smash Gauge, but he unfortunately gets caught on the lone platform as the stage rotates and hes stuck on the bottom. Duck Hunt gets launched by a smash attack to get eliminated. A second later, Wario tries to get back to the stage and self-destructs, eliminating him from the match as well*

Crono: Wow, two eliminations in a matter of moments, and now were down to Young Link and the Ice Climbers!

*A Smash Ball appears and the Ice Climbers get it again. They use it immediately as Young Link launches them. He appears to be out of reach, but he falls from the lone platform and gets hit by it. Young Links Final Smash gauge fills up and he launches Popo (who lost Nana as the stage turned again) with a strong attack, and he lands right next to an Assist Trophy and snags it. Young Link catches Popo with his Final Smash and KOs him at 205%*

Sephiroth: Young Link didnt miss his Final Smash that time!

*The Assist Trophy pushes Young Link away as the stage rotates and he cant find anywhere to land, so he falls for a KO. The Ice Climbers get their Final Smash and use it to deal damage to Young Link but he survives. Young Link grabs a bat and smashes the Ice Climbers with it to KO them and win the match*

Sephiroth: Young Link wins! And with a dramatic grand slam, at that!

Crono: The Ice Climbers were monsters in this match. They KOd every opponent twice, but their last two KOs came at Young Links hands, who dealt the most damage and took the least amount of damage despite how early Wario and Duck Hunt were eliminated. He also won despite his peak damage only being 117%, so he played some good defense to avoid getting hit a lot.

1. Young Link
2. Ice Climbers
3. Wario
4. Duck Hunt

Match 2: Pac-Man vs. Greninja vs. Sheik vs. Joker

Sephiroth: We saw a lot of chaos caused by the stage hazards in the last match. I wonder how many KOs well see caused by that this time.

*Greninja grabs a Poke Ball early, which deals good damage to the other three fighters with its fire blasts but doesnt KO anyone. They all begin battling at the lower left corner of the stage. Joker nearly KOs Pac-Man with Arsene, but he just barely manages to get back. However, Greninja launches Pac-Man and bounces him off the lone platform to send him down for a KO*

Crono: Nice use of the stage itself to create a KO there by Greninja.

*A Smash Ball appears and Greninja grabs it as the stage begins to rotate. Joker gets caught off guard with nowhere to land and drops to his doom for a KO. Pac-Man grabs Sheik and throws her off the stage for a KO. After holding onto the Final Smash for a while, Greninja finally uses it on Sheik but since shes just come back, it doesnt KO her. Sheik gets her Final Smash and tries to return the favor, but she misses. Pac-Man gets his Final Smash and immediately KOs Greninja with it. After a few rounds, he gets Joker with it for a KO, too*

Sephiroth: I hope no one is expecting me to imitate that Pac-Man sound here.

*The chaos gets compounded by the stage rotating and all four characters scrambling and knocking each other out of the way to survive. Joker gets his Final Smash and catches Greninja and Sheik in it, although only Sheik gets KOd by it. As the damage continues to pile up, Pac-Man hits Joker with a projectile to eliminate him from the match. Sheik botches her up-B trying to recover from the lone platform to the main stage and self-destructs to eliminate her from the match a few seconds later*

Crono: Oh wow, just like the last match, we see two fighters get eliminated mere moments apart, and now its Pac-Man against Greninja.

*A Smash Ball appears and Greninja grabs it. However, Pac-Man is unafraid and keeps pounding on Greninja, but he cant quite knock the Smash Ball out of him. Greninja tries to catch Pac-Man with his Final Smash but misses. A little bit afterward, Pac-Man hits Greninja with his down-air for a KO. Greninja comes back and immediately KOs Pac-Man with his side-smash to keep them both at 0% going into their final stocks*

Sephiroth: This has the look of a 1-on-1 match now, but you cant discount the stage hazards, even at this point in the fight.

*Pac-Man gets his Final Smash and hits Greninja a couple of times for good damage. As the stage rotates, Greninja overcompensates on his recovery, flying completely over the lone platform and falling to his doom, sealing the victory for Pac-Man*

Sephiroth: Pac-Man wins! Tough break for Greninja. I can relate to his plight there.

Crono: Pac-Man was unstoppable out there, getting credit for all three KOs on both Joker and Greninja. Once again, Sheik cant get any offense going, taking nearly three times as much damage as she dealt and only getting 1 KO.

1. Pac-Man
2. Greninja
3. Sheik
4. Joker

Match 3: Solid Snake vs. Bayonetta vs. Bowser vs. R.O.B.

Sephiroth: This is our first time seeing Bayonetta in action. Ill be curious to see how she performs out there.

*Snake comes out dealing good damage and avoiding taking too much himself, but he completely botches his up-B falling to the lone platform and takes a very early KO at a low percentage. R.O.B. nearly follows him but just barely gets back to the platform. R.O.B. grabs an Assist Trophy and the Pac-Man ghosts appear, which send Bowser flying for a KO*

Crono: Snakes failure and R.O.B. avoiding making the same mistake and then proceeding to KO Bowser shows how narrow the margins can be in these matches.

*Bayonetta grabs a Bullet Bill and slams straight into Snake, obliterating him for another KO. Bayonetta throws a bumper against the stage, but she gets undone by it as she bounces off of it and into R.O.B., who up-smashes her for a KO. A Smash Ball appears, and Bowser and Bayonetta fight over it. However, Bowsers Smash Gauge fills up and he opts to immediately go for the Final Smash that way. He hits Bayonetta with it, who survives and gets her own Final Smash, returning the favor to Bowser and KOing him with it*

Sephiroth: Ouch, Bowser gets punished hard for not being able to finish what he started.

*R.O.B. gets his Final Smash but Snake KOs him a second later before he has a chance to use it. Then Snake gets his Final Smash, but as hes setting it up, Bowser wallops Bayonetta with his up-smash to KO her. However, since he wasnt paying attention, Snake catches him off guard with his Final Smash and eliminates Bowser with it*

Crono: Situational awareness can make the difference between victory and defeat. You cant get tunnel vision and only focus on one opponent.

*R.O.B. gets another shot at the Final Smash but it doesnt work because Bayonetta grabs a Starman just before he uses it. Snake blasts R.O.B. with his up-smash, which probably would have KOd him if he werent under the lone platform, so he glances off the side of it and stays alive. Bayonetta gets her Final Smash, but she chooses to crush R.O.B. with a smash attack for the KO first and then uses her Final Smash to try to eliminate Snake but cant quite do it. Snake gets bounced off the lone platform and nearly beyond recovery. He tries to use his down-B as a way to launch himself up back to the stage, but since his percentage is too high, he self-destructs instead and gets eliminated*

Sephiroth: Hahaha, what an unfortunate and embarrassing way for Snake to lose. I love it.

*A Smash Ball appears and R.O.B. grabs it, but he winds up not needing it because he catches Bayonetta with his up-air to eliminate her and win the match*

Sephiroth: R.O.B. wins! It feels like he flew under the radar for most of the match, but sometimes, thats the best strategy in a free for all.

Crono: Snake dealt the most damage and received the least. He was also the only character who dealt more damage than he received. If he hadnt made that horrible error at the beginning of the match, that couldve completely altered the match.

1. R.O.B.
2. Bayonetta
3. Solid Snake
4. Bowser

Match 4: Lucina vs. Pit vs. Pichu vs. Sonic the Hedgehog

Sephiroth: Pichu had success in the tag tournament earlier this week, and Pit won his singles match last week. Lucina and Sonic have yet to win a match. Who will come out on top?

*Somehow, Sonic springs off of his up-B as soon as the match starts and falls off the edge for a self-destruct at 0%. He actually starts fighting really well after that. All four characters battle off the edge on the left side and Lucina gets knocked down beyond recovery for a KO. Pit and Pichu pile up the damage on each other, and Lucina proves to be quite the opportunist as she charges in and KOs Pichu with her neutral-B*

Crono: Youve got to keep an eye on your opponents percentages and strike when the moment presents itself.

*A Smash Ball appears and Sonic grabs it, but the other characters knock it out of him before he can use it. In the ensuing battle over it, Sonic nails Pit with his air attack for a KO. However, the Smash Ball flies away before anyone can get it. When the stage rotates, Pit, Lucina, and Sonic all end up on the lone platform under the stage. Pit bounces Lucina off the stage above and down to her doom for a KO. His Smash Gauge fills up and he immediately uses his Final Smash, but he cant hit anyone with it. When he returns, he knocks Sonic off beyond recovery for a KO*

Sephiroth: The winners are looking like winners, and the losers are looking like losers.

*Pichu gets his Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. Lucina gets her Final Smash and hits Sonic with it, but the stage catches him as hes sent flying, so he stays in the match. Sonic grabs a Starman and then chases down Pichu, KOing him with an up-smash at 165%. Lucina grabs a Crash Bomber and hits Sonic with it after the invincibility wears off, eliminating him from the match*

Crono: As they say, bombs away!

*As the stage rotates, Pichu and Lucina follow each other around. Then Pichu hits Lucina with a smash attack that bounces her off the lone platform and down to eliminate her from the match. A Smash Ball appears and Pichu grabs it. Before he can use it, the stage rotates again and Pit gets confused by it and falls down for a KO*

Sephiroth: Wow, wouldnt have expected someone like Pit to fall prey to the stage hazard considering his jumping ability.

*Pichu eventually baits Pit into his Final Smash, which deals good damage but doesnt end the match. Then Pit gets his Final Smash and uses it to KO Pichu and win the match*

Sephiroth: Pit wins! And that makes two wins in two matches.

Crono: This was a strange match, as we saw a lot of characters get KOd at low percentages due to stage hazards. Only Pichu dealt more than 300% damage and not by much.

1. Pit
2. Pichu
3. Lucina
4. Sonic

Match 5: Ganondorf vs. King K. Rool vs. Captain Olimar vs. Meta Knight

Sephiroth: Two of our biggest fighters against two of our smallest. This is a real David vs. Goliathvs. Goliath vs. David.

*King K. Rool gets a Crash Bomber, but Olimar knocks it away from him the moment before it explodes. Then it explodes on its own and blasts Meta Knight for heavy damage but doesnt KO him. Olimar grabs an Assist Trophy and it knocks K. Rool away, and due to the orientation of the stage at the time, he cant get back and drops for a KO. Bizarrely, when K. Rool reappears, he tries to continue the fight off stage and falls down, botching his recovery in exactly the same way for a second KO in a row, this time at 0%*

Crono: That might be the strangest things Ive seen in one of these matches so far. Just like that, K. Rool is already down to 1 stock while everyone else is still at 3.

*A Smash Ball appears, and they fight over it as the stage begins to rotate. Meta Knight smashes Ganondorf away, and the way the stage rotates makes him unable to get back and he drops for the KO. K. Rool grabs the Smash Ball and tries to use it, but he gets caught by the lone platform and cant hit anyone with it. Olimar hits Meta Knight with one of his Pikmin for a KO*

Sephiroth: Somehow Olimar is the lone character with all three stocks left now!

*Olimar nearly gets KOd by Ganondorfs smash attack, but he bounces off the stage and stays alive. Then he gets his Final Smash and immediately uses it but doesnt KO anyone. Ganondorf and Meta Knight also get their Final Smashes. Meta Knight uses his on K. Rool, eliminating him from the match. Then Ganondorf uses his and finally KOs Olimar for the first time, who survived up until 190%*

Crono: K. Rool got eliminated from the match entirely before Olimar lost his first stock. Cant say I saw that coming.

*Olimar grabs a Bullet Bill and drives it right into Ganondorf, blasting him off the side for a KO. Olimar grabs an item and throws it at Meta Knight, launching him off immediately for a KO. A Smash Ball appears as the stage rotates again. Ganondorf nails Olimar with his up-smash to KO him, and with the way the stage is oriented, no one can grab the Smash Ball before it flies away. Meta Knight gets his Final Smash and uses it to eliminate Ganondorf from the match*

Sephiroth: Ganondorf was dominant in his tag match last week, but he cant replicate that in this format.

*Olimar grabs an Assist Trophy and Bomberman comes out, lighting up Meta Knight with bombs as Olimar gets his own Final Smash and uses it to deal heavy damage, but Meta Knight hangs on. Bomberman lays down another series of bombs, and this time, it sends Meta Knight flying to end the match*

Sephiroth: Captain Olimar wins! And it looks like David triumphs against Goliath again, times two!

Crono: Olimar punched way above his weight class today, dealing the most damage and registering 5 KOs despite fighting two of the biggest and strongest heavyweights. K. Rool has the dishonorable distinction of being the first character in a Free for All not to register a single KO.

1. Captain Olimar
2. Meta Knight
3. Ganondorf
4. King K. Rool
