Are they actually active ones? EG with a decent amount of karma, say maybe 50% of it or is it "500 karma, 7 year old account"? Latter is usually bought/stolen (as in bought from a list of leaked account name/passwods and haven't been used in years)

If it's the former, like genuine, people can be more conservative and intolerante of difference as they got older

Losers like to buy/hack/steal old accounts to troll or they're alts that were logged into every day made just to troll because this site protects high karma users for some reason.

ive seen a lot of people say that some of those accounts dont belong to their original owners, which is why you sometimes run into people posting that stuff on here who dont have any posts on ce from before a year or two ago

but i think just as good of an explanation is a not-insignificant amount of gamers got put on the path to radicalization in 2014-15 during gamergate

Oh fuck. Tough question to ask a Scot. Well I'm not American, so I don't have that weird desperate longing to be attached to some ancient celtic order that so many Americans seem to have, which I presume is the reason why Americans like to romanticise and fund the IRA

You've got to understand that over here we just think they were a bunch of pricks, using religion to set off bombs and ruin lives. That might just be because I'm british and have had a sanitised history presented to me.

I am defintely the orginal owner of this account. I only started posting here because my old boards are dead or almost so.

My anectodotal observation is many of the forums I grew up with seem oddly racist now. They did not always. I get the feeling alot of the so called tech libertarians grew up and turned varying levels of racist because their secret video game club went mainstream -- see concepts liked forced diversity and let the market decide. I aslo get the feeling alot of marginalized teen nerd types got bitter when "sjw" movements started, because those movements focused on the truly socially and economically marginalized groups -- and not just awkward people in general. And instead of emapthizing with such movement, knowing what it is like to be othered by soceity some, they instead developed a grudge.

That is my take based on anectdotal evidence.

I enjoy these radicalisation theories, although the hacked account theory seems plausible too. I have wondered if there's a subset of people who just grew up on the internet and stayed inside small circles and felt abandoned by society at large. I know that any time I post on CE more it's because I'm not having as fulfilling a time in real life.

Thing is though, as we do get older, we're more against change. Add 30 years to your age and you most likely just want to live your life and say "I don't care about that". Some people are just in a bubble and hit that point earlier. Grew up in a small town all their 30 years or something and change is bad to them. So why rock the status quo in their mind.

Tch, I'm about as "neglected and internet raised" as they come, and I have *two* ? Block accounts to show for it, but I've never been some bigoted piece of shit.

Hell, my alt only came off Warned today after I said some overly hostile remarks about Trump and the police (apparently that's "offensive" to somebody).
