Uh oh, April Fools Day is here!

I was looking at my EPSN Second Chance Brackets, and I have 1 bracket in what they consider in the *100%* range, which is strange, because I do have one incorrect pick in it.

For the final 3 games, I have Gonzaga over UCLA, and Baylor over Houston, and the final game I have Baylor over Gonzaga.

Let's see how that plays out in the Final Four and Final!

Was a pretty chill April Fools on my end!

Lucha 1-28: Marty the Moth opens against Puma. I'm into this guy already: interesting character, agile for his build, good selling. Puma over, but not without a fight. (***1/2) Hernandez shows up, and Konnan challenges him on behalf of Puma! Thought we were gonna get the heel turn and title change right there, but I guess not because Hernandez walked away. Call me crazy, but Vampiro is growing on me. Good interview with Mundo. Mundo references Del Rio slapping a dude, and steals his catchphrase, lol. Cueto is going to feed the Crew to Matanza or something if they don't win the titles in a ladder match. Daivari and Texano time! Texano's a tecnico now I guess? Striker points out it's a bit odd that the crowd's behind him now. Ryck takes out Texano suddenly for the DQ. (**1/2) Guess Daivari probably hired him. They bully the ref into counting 3 while Daivari poses on Texano, lol. Fenix/Muertes in a deathmatch next week, at what's-her-face's request. Black Lotus wants to kill Matanza, Chavo wants to help the dude keep her alive in exchange for clearing things up with Mexico. Trios Titles ladder! Ivelisse straight up on crutches. Some really innovative spots here, and a nice little callback with Angelico going for that same crazy dive but getting stopped. HOLY CRAP HE DROPKICKED HIM OFF THE LADDER FROM THE SECOND FLOOR. Ivelisse hobbles up the ladder to retain! (****)

Gloomhaven: Got to the end of the tutorial and was rewarded with a whole lot of teambuilding options all at once. Kinda intimidating but kinda fun! Also knocked out my first "real" mission, which went quite well. Rolling with Brute, Cragheart, Tinkerer, and Scoundrel, which seems to be the easiest party I have available.

Gunnerkrigg: I am into Jones already. I also have headcanons about Parley already. Mort was a good time for his little bit! Also I think we're starting to get some more overarching plot stuff, with Jeanne and the robots and Annie working towards becoming a medium. Should be interesting!

LP MGSIV 17-2: Vamp and Naomi moments didn't do a whole ton for me, but what DOES do it for me is getting to pilot the dang Rex :D And fight Ray! And Liquid Ocelot gets to be a large ham! And Raiden gets to be run over by a battleship?

Les Mis: Settin' up the next group of folks. Young revolutionaries in making, probably!

MLP 9-24+25- The Ending of the End: Man, nothing like jobbing out every single good guy. I forget how I got spoiled on the Discord thing but it was still a good twist. Goin' all JRPG on us with the creating problems for the heroes to solve and grow. THE PINKY AND THE BRAIN REFERENCE THOUGH. Several other good ones in there but that was amazing. ....Rivalled by the chocolate rain callback though! Really fun way to end the thing, although I guess there's an epilogue episode. Autoplay saw fit to show me adult Spike and I don't like it.

Gloomhaven: Got my first couple levels, so that's fun!

FE: Why, it seems I actually am coming up on the final battle! I took a few 90%ish certifications and passed them all, so now I should be able to bring in everybody with, y'know, an actual decent kit. I think I will keep going for the other routes after.

IDW Sonic 6: Man, things keep getting worse! Lots of folks are starting to fall. Zavok is back. (not that I am actually that familiar with him, but hey more bad guys.) They even got Tangle :(

IDW Jem 2: Everybody gets character development movie reference dream sequences I guess? Also man, I just really appreciate that they have, like, individual personalities now. I liked the OG Jem but this is just a fantastic update.

Have started messing with SMRPG randomizer! It's not my first time, but there are a lot of features new to this version since the last time I dabbled, and it's pretty fun. Randomizers and speedruns always vaguely appealed to me but I never quite got into it, partially because there are few games I know well enough to do that with that also have a robust community. SMRPG fits both boxes though, so this could finally be my trip into that rabbit hole. I think I got a bit too ambitious with my flags, but I'm rolling now. After a rough start with Peach, I finally got Bowser, and with two early Super Suits with awesome offensive stats, I'm already outputting endgame-level damage. Lot of defensive and magic holes in my setup, but between two heavy DPS and Mallow getting Group Hug early, I think I can roll through most fights. I have a lot of room to improve my routing, though, but that is something that can come with practice and study.

Jem actually has trouble juggling everything, once in a while
Aja is a bit of a loner
Shana is a bit more introverted
Kimber is....Kimber, but a lot more so
Pizzazz has a non-jerk side, sometimes, maybe, and she has actual motivations behind most of her acting out
Stormer is a bit heavier, not as dumb, and the ship is specifically a thing
Rio is a reporter rather than a manager, and struggles between his loyalties and his job. And looks kinda like Phoenix Wright.
It's acknowledged as weird that somebody is named "Video"
Few other quirks that weren't there before, like Roxy really likes bagels, Pizazz is Jewish, stuff like that

Okay maybe it's not a lot on paper but they still feel more like real people with lives and relationships instead of say "Asian Jem" or "British Pizazz" (while retaining the over top zaniness and swapping out a bit of the 80s charm for 10's charm)

Aria 3-3 : We meet a patissier and inspire him to change up his packaging. And also drink a lot of lattes.

SMRPG Rand: Finished my first real attempt, started a second. It took several hours but I am confident I can get that trimmed down pretty well with practice and study. Gotta memorize some of the maps and improve my platforming, is the main thing. My second run is still pretty early on, but I had a lot easier time starting. I wonder if chaotic inventory+random equip effects is a bit too strong, because I keep winding up with really strong characters that are in trouble on the rare occasion that they let the enemy get a turn. Then again I got walled by a random early Octolot, so maybe it's okay.

Trails: Knocked out the Soldat extermination...was a bit of a slobberknocker but the hardest part was remembering (Googling) where the Soldat Army Road actually was lol.

Lucha 1-29: Muertes/Fenix predicted TakaMori tbqh. Mundo/Aerostar should be good but seems a bit off somehow. Still fun though, Mundo over. (**1/2) Oh good, a Sexy Star interview. Title match second on the show? Interesting, not sure what that implies. Both Hernandez and Puma show off a bunch, which seems to run against the title grudge match feel, and Vamp calls them both on it, in between Konnan rants. Puma uses a chair! Really neat spot with the crowd rail, even if it was a bit staged. The Konnan turn never comes, and Puma goes over! Solid. (***) Fenix/Muertes Deathmatch! He's got the Dark Order with him or smth. Fairly solid, Muertes freakin' murders him. (***) Speaking of murder, but less metaphorically, two of the Crew are forced to feed the third to Matanza or whatever. Geeze.

Disgaea 2: I started the mobile game now that it's out, so hey it synergizes nicely! Hopefully I beat this before the condensed version spoils me lol. Anyway I'm still kinda scared of the next map so I just did a bit o' grinding.

Gloomhaven: I assumed that buying an item and binding it to a character would have them, y'know, equip it. I was incorrect, so I have wasted a lot of money buying duplicates of things I already owned and just wasn't equipping! It also costs more money to bind them to somebody else instead. :\ Ah well, I don't seem to be having much trouble with the current quests available anyway.

Gunnerkrigg Ch 19-20: Zimmy/Gamma stuff is interesting, but dang the Nobodies are creepy. And some background ships too! And then more coyote shenanigans, nice.

LP MGS4 18-1: Weirdly fanservicey mission briefing, I guess. Act 5, I guess.

FE: I was already annoyed that Catherine and Shamir weren't available to Girl Byleth, and I am extra annoyed after finishing their support. At least they're happy(?) tho. Phase 1(?) of the final(?) battle could be going better but I think we'll make it. Maybe.

SMRPG Rand: Lost a decent chunk of progress because I forgot that the Yaridovich slot comes AFTER the Jonathan Jones slot, and although my Bowser tanked a beating from Jinx, he couldn't quite win the 1v1 (Geno and Mallow went down in one hit)

MLP 9-26- The Last Problem: End of a dang era. I am not ready for the aged up versions, especially not Spike. I was also not ready for a pony named Luster. ....Appledash? Pinkie and Cheese?? Nice song with some callbacks. I kinda wish it was a long episode or two-parter or something, because I feel like there was a lot more they could've done, but I think it was quite nice anyway, and a good sendoff. Feels like what they were trying to do with Teen Titans a little, except, y'know, good. Was a good show. Was a very good show. Might give the new one a shot, but probably not immediately.

Jelle's Marble Runs will take the "Western show" slot vacated by the ponies. Doesn't seem very write-up compatible, so I will most likely just point out when I've finished something? My plan is to watch all the Marble Leagues (that used to be Marble Olympics or something, right?) and see if I feel like watching more after. That's how I got my started with marble races (marbles in general really) so it'll be nice to just binge through the continuity, even if I've seen some of it before. It has been a while.

I'll just throw in a vote to try a marbula1 race.

Its my favorite Jelle's event and just finished its second season.

Do you know which team/teams you are rooting for? Snowballs and Minty Maniacs are my teams. Started with Snowballs in Marbula1 but how could I not root for a team called the Minty Maniacs when I love mint and go by Maniac. I would also have to cheer for turtle Sliders but I've never watched a season where they compete.

Also have a soft spot for Team Momo and Rojo Rollers.

I like Oceanics and Thunderbolts and Balls of Chaos and Team Primary and Kobalts and probably a couple others that didn't spring to mind. I wanna say there were a couple of teams that had some narrative stuff going that I liked, too. I also have a baseball team named after the O'Rangers in my tabletop game, lol.

I mean there are great team histories on the wiki. Each team has full backstories as do many of the Marbles.

Prim and Mary are siblings and Player-Owners of Team Primary.

Minty Maniacs were a retired team from a now defunct league who decided to reunite for the last Marble League since they had earned a spot by winning their Leagues final championship.

Les Mis: Marius is with the ABCs now!

SMRPG Rando: This run isn't as steamrolly as my first one, but I can get to endgame earlier! Peach has some snazzy equips but is nonetheless lagging behind in terms of....pretty much everything except having HP Rain, which is my only healing atm. Tempted to swap her back out for Mallow.

Since my holds aren't coming in (still!) I asked Wifebolo a while back to just grab me some random audiobooks. First one of that batch to finish up is Fuirously Happy by Jenny Lawson. I usually do fiction, especially for audiobooks, but hey, it's mental health related at a time I need all the help I can get. So Tom, you finished MLP, nice! G5 I'm not sure on, as there isn't a whole lot of information known about it yet. G4 could of easily had 1 more season at the minimum, but as it stands, 9 seasons is quite a lot of material put forth over a 222 episode run.

As for me, I actually started playing Warcraft II, the GOG version over the last few days.

So far, I'm through the *easy* parts of the game. For both sides, the Human & Orc Campaigns, the first 3 Missions are very simple. The enemy AI is really held back most of the time, and enemy attacks are very limited, and if the enemy has a base, it's mostly window dressing, as it really isn't used much or at all.

The 4th Mission on both is more or less your lesson learned from the first 3, and the enemy actually starts engaging with random skirmishes. But, there's nothing overwhelming.

So, I'm at the start of the 5th Mission for the Humans, and finished off the 5th Mission with the Orcs.

I had some trouble with the Orc 5th Mission, mostly on the resource side, having to hurry it up a bit, resulting in a victory with not much of my army remaining. So, I survived, just not in the most efficient way.

Warcraft is one of those franchises I figure I would like but have never gotten around to trying! (other than Hearthstone)

IDW Sonic 7: That about wraps up the Zombots I guess! Kinda fun climax with a bunch of separate fights; most everybody got a little chance to shine! Nice to see everybody come back and things go back to colorful and (usually) happy. This is becoming, like, my comfort fandom or something.

IDW Jem 3: One zombie-adjacent arc ends, and another one begins, I guess? But this one is dealt with pretty quickly, through the power of unlikely teamwork! Really a fan of Pizzazz's character arc and excited to see where it goes. Kimber's too, actually, as she continues to be kinda the black sheep. Also, sudden trans representation! It's nice to see marginalized identities explored in depth, but there's imo definitely also something to be said for having people just....show up and do normal things like the normal person they are. Blaze appears to be mostly in the latter camp. You really get the sense that the comic is trying for diversity, (you've got lots of races and body sizes as well, and KimberxStormer is an actual canon thing) but it doesn't feel like they're ticking boxes like some casts.

Lathe of Heaven: This is an interesting premise and pretty good characters, but I have no idea where we're gonna go with it. It's not an instant favorite, but it has potential I reckon!

Aria 3-4- Those Who Aim for Tomorrow...: Akari is feeling a bit insecure, so we're sent to work the Traghetto, which seems to be like a training ground for Singles trying to break through to Primas. (or a destination for those who don't want to or can't) We work in tag teams with Singles from other companies, which gives us a chance to meet some new folks. (and scratch my Lethal Lottery itch :P) A nice time getting to know them, although I don't know if they'll ever show back up.

Warcraft II has it's own uniqueness, especially when it comes to old school Real Time Strategy gameplay.

As for progress, I tackled Human Campaign Mission 5 the other day. The map is a collection of two main islands, and a series of smaller islands. You're in the lower left of the map, and first tasked with reclaiming an existing base, and working off of it from there. Resources aren't really a problem, as the gold mine next to your base has plenty to keep your cash reserves going. The Lumber resource is a bit tighter though, I found myself expanding to one of the smaller islands in the north, since it had extra lumber and a gold mine too. Enemy Transport landings to my base were manageable to ward off without major losses each time they occurred.

After building up a large enough force, I slowly progressed to the enemy's main base, and I held on until the enemy couldn't out produce my overall damage output.

Catapults are excellent for building destruction, but, come with the weakness of being not necessarily the fastest unit. Unguarded, a few basic units can easily lay waste to one. I lost several initially, and found myself holding back a bit to create a few more, and protected them better the second time.

Lucha 1-30: Chavo is playing every side he can, as he does. Curious why he settled for "protection from Mexico" over just, y'know, wiping out the debt that has "Mexico" after him. Mariachi Hava Nagila happens to us. Jack Evans sasses an audience member who looks suspiciously like Jake Roberts in a beaglepuss. Anyway, Evans/Argenis will be for a Medallion! Evans keeps doing things I've never seen before, and he gets the win. (***1/2) Not-Daivari, Ryck, and They Call Him Cage will challenge for the titles after Cage beats the snot out of Killshot. They play like this bothers Ryck but I think it was just last show he said money came first. Black Lotus ALMOST beats Chavo and the Crew with really bad movie kung fu. It took me a while to get used to it, but I kinda appreciate that Vampiro has his own kinda moral code and supports a mix of faces and heels. Ivelisse has the AUDACITY to sit on the sideline with a broken ankle. Kevin Dunn takes over as producer, judging by all these nonsensical cuts. Faces over after a Texano assist. (**1/2) Sexy/Penta in a submission match appears to be our main. If we had to have a jerk who shoots on her opponents, I wish we'd at least have gotten Yoshiko instead. Penta cuts a promo at the camera, instead of Sexy who is standing right there. Penta over with a Super Fly runin. (**1/2) Vampiro saves Sexy from the arm break, then has a breakdown in the bathroom.

SMRPG Rando: Clear! Peach never did really become useful on her own merits, but having her basically spam items taught me how good items were. Was worried I would lose to Smithy after the first Sledge or two, but after a while I could just wall with HP Rain and items. Wasn't nearly as easy as my first run, but I suspect it was faster?

Lathe of Heaven: Now we're getting into the good stuff I think, with all the reality warping and the character dynamics. Kinda gives me a Death Note vibe?

Trails: Can't find the last spot for the measuring devices but at least I got in some fishing and saw Cassius.

Warcraft II Orc Mission 6: This one is a bit different. Here, there's no base to build or maintain, as instead, you're given the task of escorting a unit to what's called a Circle of Power, the mission goal. The army of soldiers you start with begin in the north west corner of the map.

My initial route was to head to the middle of the map and go to the north east. That first attempt didn't work, as there was nothing up there, and by the time I started my backtrack south, my force got wiped out.

Learning that lesson, going directly south east from the starting point did lead to some heavier resistance, but before long, I reached the goal with approximately half my force still intact.

A relatively short mission once you know where to go.

Disgaea 2: Did a lot of equip shuffling and dark assembly, and was able to barely squeak past the level I'd been stuck on, woo. Probably could've won a bit easier without some silly mistakes I made, so I'll try to keep moving forward for a bit. Disgaea RPG on mobile has me in the mood for the real thing!

Lathe of Heaven: It took a while, but it's grabbed me now. Parallel universes and such always interested me, and the way they are done here is interesting. Also some neat character development- we're approaching the end and we only really know three characters, but we've done fairly deep dives on all three. Approaching the end, and I'm enjoying the chaos.

Dawnshard Prologue: Hey, a hold finally came in! Forgot (or never realized) it was an ebook rather than an audiobook so that'll be different. I'll do a chapter a day. Good to see Yalb again! Knew I recognized that name.

Lathe of Heaven: Done! Ending seemed a bit abrupt, somehow, even though there wasn't really anything left to do. It kinda makes me want to apply the concepts to an RPG or story or something, which I reckon is a mark in its favor.

Fuzzy Nation: The last of the "just grab me something" batch, which I thought I wasn't going to get to. This is apparently a remake/update of Little Fuzzy, but I haven't heard of either. Read by Wil Wheaton!

Dawnshard Ch 1: Oh neat, Rysn's back!

LP MGS4 18-2: Not much up this time, just sneaking.

Fuzzy Nation: The main character has a dog, there's a "cat thing" that seems important, and both of those have gotten more focus than most of the humans so far. I'm okay with this.

Dawnshard 2: Nice to get into Rysn's head a bit more, and nice to see Navani. A peek at the next page seems to indicate The Lopen POV, so I am hyped for that!

Marble League 2016 4-9: A lot of my teams are struggling, but Thunderbolts are in the running! I think my favorites are the various long races, as they lend themselves to a bit more drama. Looking forward to when they start playing up the lore and atmosphere a bit more.

Dawnshard 3-5: Rysn and The Lopen? HECK yes. Sadly we missed out on adding Rock, but hey this Cord person is probably cool too. ...oh good, more bug people or whatever.

Gloomhaven: I'm starting to get a little annoyed with the exhaustion mechanic- I played a map that had a "survive 10 turns" goal and burned no extra cards and took barely any damage and one of my dudes still didn't make it, just because 10 turns is a lot of cards to play. Other than that I'm still having a good bit of fun.

Fuzzy Nation: This story beat or two has been fairly predictable, but the writing style is enjoyable.

Fuzzy Nation: I saw this tweener-face turn coming a mile away, but I wasn't expecting to get a Sanderson Avalanche alongside it! This would be a solid ending....which is good because apparently this set is missing the next to last disc, so that might be the end lol.

Dawnshard 8-9: The intrigue intensifies, and Rysn might be able to move more freely soon!

It's summer! Less audiobook, more everything else. Ideally.

It's June already. Crazy.

Still plugging away at Warcraft II.

Finished the Orc Campaign [all 14 Missions], and cleared 11 of the Human Missions.

The 12th Mission is weird, base attacks are infrequent, and yet, enemy naval attacks easily set you back, since collecting oil in this mission is a challenge. The oil patches are quite far from your initial base position. And without oil, building ships, aside from oil tankers, is not possible without sufficient oil reserves on hand.

My best option is maybe to scrap my current progress, and start the mission over.

FE: BEATED. Haven't decided whether I want to do the other routes yet or not- seems like a shame not to do NG+, but the Switch backlog ain't getting any shorter. Was a fun game! Was kinda hoping NG+ would let me carry over a tiny bit more so I could speed through, lol.

Picked up Light Fantastic! ....Not sure when I'm gonna listen to it now that I'm not commuting, lol.

Sonic Vol 8: Maybe not as out of the park as last time, but still quite fun! This was kinda transitional, with some side stories from the previous arc, and a quick bit of filler before the next one.

Jem Vol 4: A new artist started. I did not enjoy her. But hey we're almost done anyway!

I've been in the mood to do a board project but canr decide what to do.

Firat thought is to actually do the Top 100 games list I created like a year or two ago and kept vaguely updated. Didnt do it cause a bunch of others did them at that time. It would certainly be a...unique list though

Other thought was an OP rating/ranking topic. Have people post show openings and then rate them based on a few factors (song, visual, interest, X-factor)

I vote for the games!

Les Mis: Marius is in a different spot than I am but I still find him kinda relatable....up until the point where we spend like ten pages talking about how hot Cosette(?) is at 15 and he, a 20 year old, crosses into stalker territory. Wack.

Yeah I should do something with that list lol.

People are going to hate or just be utterly baffled by my rankings. Like almost no Zelda, no mega man, no Pheonix, almost nothing made in the last decade.

For the record here is the "rules" I used to help narrow it down a bit.

-Favorite games not best games
-No yearly sports series (Madden, SDvsRaw, WWE). But non-yearly games like Blitz, Olympic Hockey, or No Mercy/ Smackdown Here comes the Pain are allowed.
-No compilation games unless that's the only way I played something (I did one of these years back where I used Mario All-stars and Sonic mega collection to save spots).

Indeed it wasn't Tom, but I did get past Missions 12 & 13, and then reached Mission 14, and hit a brick wall.

The Orc base starts pumping out dragon after dragon, and I can't really keep up with the continuous destruction each one causes. Pretty much after about 5 minutes into the mission, that's where you're contending with all of this madness. It's easily the hardest mission in the game, even the Orc Mission 14 was far more manageable.

LU 1-31: Drago? Chavo and the Crew take out Blue Demon in a runback of the first match. (**1/2) Drago! I thought Sagrada/Pimpanella/Bengala were here to get squashed, but they get their spots in against the debuting Disciples of Death before losing. (**1/2) Mundo/Puma for the entirety of next ep? Drago/Cuerno/They Call Him Cage/Hernandez for a shot, and Drago's mask! Nothing like a heel/heel/heel/tweener match. Some kinda scary dives, and Killshot creeping for some reason. Drago wins off a flash pin. (***) Catalina bullies Cueto into giving Muertes a shot at Drago for the shot. They really like #1 Contender Just Kidding stips here, lol.

FE: Decided to go ahead and run through at least once more. Hopefully between NG+ bonii and an easier difficulty and turning off attack animations and already having read a lot of the cutscenes at the beginning, it goes a bit faster now! We're Golden Lions this time, and my early inclination is to shoot for Claude or Raphael as husbando.....although I already have Mercedes and Dorothea back and they're tempting. Kinda nice how much of last game's crew was immediately recruitable, although I'm still going to try to focus a bit more on the actual group.

Smash: Still chuggin' along in Adventure, no big moments.
