Doug was the bully picking on the poor kid.

Doug was popular and Roger lived in a trailer with his single mother. Doug did everything in his life to make Roger's life miserable. Roger even threw a party for him in that one episode.

Fuck Doug Funnie he's a piece of shit and he deserves to burn in hell

I think Rodger just had an abrasive personality and Doug was more sensitive.

Rodger probably tried to mack Patty up and she brushed him off and it made Doug jealous.

Rodger would definitely tease Doug about his diary.

Doug's anxiety is relatable.

when doug went into the honker burger he imagined everyone in there was laughing at him. i know some bloggers play up his fantasies as a sign of poor mental health, but it is actually a pretty interesting frame through which to view the show.

theories about him having a type of anxiety are better than theories about him being a drug addict and Judy is the drug dealer. Nothing wrong with a young child looking up his older sister for guidance. It doesn't have to mean she's supplying him with meth and his anxiety is triggered by withdrawals symptoms.

man, that's the thing. the theories i see usually involve picking apart his fantasy moments and treating them like hallucinations, stuff like that. i think him going into the honker burger and seeing everyone laughing, and knowing that it's at him, is less overt but still in line with a theory like that.

how do American children afford to have school lunch and be able to eat at a diner every week after school? Daria made sense since they were highschool and could have part time jobs, but I see this in kid cartoons like Doug, Recess, The Weekenders, My Life Me, Filmore , Arthur, What's With Andy, Morel Orel, Hey Arnold, Fairy Odd Parents when kids are too young to have jobs and surely not all their parents give them that much of an allowance to be able to afford eating out every week.

Because the vast majority of those cartoons are based on middle-class suburban families. Hey Arnold is the only one of those I have both seen AND seemed to be an attempt to show a working class family. In that case, I assume Arnold's friends paid for him.

I played sports so I never spent that much time doing nothing after school, but I don't think that is normal. Like how people have big houses on sitcom when they have horrible jobs.

Maybe I subconsciously inherited this habit from Doug Funnie. I have handwriting that many love to look at, but has been described as hieroglyphics so they cannot decipher what it says.

i'm saying that the people who assumed that the daydreams were the sign may have taken the red herring, and missed out on the big picture. the real world, as doug sees it, is very harrowing. it honestly reminded me of a video trying to convey the real-life experience of schizophrenia that was making internet rounds a while back.

i'd have to see more now that i'm older. but the parts we should be paying attention to are the 'real world' sections, not the obvious fantasy sections.
