I did with my cat during winter days. It will take it a good while to get used to but after a while it'll be able to follow without problem, might even be able to get rid of the leach eventually. It's best to take the cat out when it's quiet outside as it'll stop to listen to any noise or hide from cars/pedestrian.

True. Walter loves people and dogs but *cars scare the shit out of him. Also one time he met a cat that must have murdered his father because he was ready to fucking thrash it. I had to run to pick him up and i was even a bit worried with how hostile he was.

and he can be let off leash just as long as its a no car area.

I tried to. he hated it. He'd lay down and refuse to move or he'd try to slip the collar.

I sorta do, but not on a leash.
I tend to take him to a church entrance one house down, and set him down a let him look around and do w/e.

He usually eventually walks up to my neighbor's house and hugs it on his way back home.
He seems to enjoy it. I just go home and eventually I'll hear his 'I'm home' meow.

It's unnatural to put a cat on a leash. And cruel too.

I would if he would let me. but my cat has always lived indoors and even if I could train him to walk on a leash, he'd be freaking out if I took him outside. outside has too many mysterious sounds and smells and threats. it would be very fun to go on a walk with him if he was not scared out of his mind, but he would be so I don't do it

Why? The cat likes the walks and the cat likes the fetch so the cat gets the walks and the fetch

Most cat owners just let their cats outside for awhile every day. None of this leash weirdness

My cat is declawed, and is strictly an indoor cat. So was wondering if I should start harness and leash training to let her enjoy the outdoors under supervision.

I used to take one of mine out for walks. When I lived with my ex we lived right on the edge of a townhouse complex with a bunch of grass right outside our house. Moved to an apartment after we broke up and there just isn't that much space to take her out here.

I'm too scared. I'm way too protective of my cat.

Although, she's had a few incidents in the time we've had her which make me so.

Remove the poor cats teeth?

my cat actually has no teeth. but he was like that when I got him. he had tooth rot and they had to do it. I got him from shelter. he was previously with someone else in a home and they gave him up cause they couldn't afford his tooth surgery and they had to let the shelter take ownership of him so they could save him. Sometimes I think about who had him before. if they loved him as much as I do.

if they still think about him. it makes me sad. I love him and am glad I met him. but I also feel bad that there might someone out there sad about having to give him up. he's a great kitty. but I've probably had him longer now than they ever did so maybe they weren't as bonded with him as I am. I dont know

I'd like to but he doesn't like the leash and harness. I suppose I could try to get him used to it, but he's a bit skittish.

Yeah we use a harness for my lil' kitty. We live in an apartment and he's an indoor cat so otherwise he wouldn't get any outside time.
