You beat the fuck out of a boss and then it either

1. Just defeats you in a cutscene so what was the point? Why was it game over state for losing?

Or

2: Goes "You're tougher than I expected" and runs off while our heroes just stand there like balloons full of custard and watch

If you give us a big boss fight with a big fucking Healthbar, either say it dies or end the fight halfway into the bar not the whole way so it doesn't feel like a cop out

And if we're going to lose the fight in the story, fuck the cutscene just make the boss a super hard supposed to lose fight. Don't make us win and then go "nu-uh actually you lost"

That pisses me off.

It's bullshit that it's game over if you lose to her

But at least that one kept the stuff in battle. It's not like you beat her and then a cutscene played where she beat you.

Never really bothered me. There's always going to be some degree of gameplay-story separation, and I'd rather actually fight a boss than just watch a cutscene. What I hate is when they set up a boss fight, only to have it destroy your party after a couple turns. Either give me a full fight or none at all.
