It wasn't done well, but I thought it was a passable idea. Batman can still be brought to a pause if something takes him back to the night in that alley, and it let's his better senses take back over.

Y'know, I was going to dispute this because I sincerely think The Dark Knight is one amazing piece of cinema, but then I realized that it isn't a great Batman movie. It's a great Joker movie.
