Exactly. There's a clear line in the sand oh, and it's more and more resembling a canyon by the recent events, and people are taking sides on it. That one side is often too cowardly and privileged to admit it speaks volumes, but make no mistake, that line has been drawn and they are on one side of it. Nothing of the manner in which they speak or write shows the slightest bit of true concern for the protesters. Riots and looting, in fact, fill them with glee precisely because they can use these incidents against the protesters, their cause, and all the people around them, while pretending to express concern over the damage done to their communities.

It's possible, but many focus more on the riots and looting and have an agenda to make protestors in general look bad.

People do not understand that this confirms or reinforces stereotypes. Every minimum wage person who now won't work for a few weeks or gets laid off after this will suffer. Every small private business that is locally owned and has been looted will have an increase hate to a specific group. People are losing their lively hood because of looters and it is going to create more hate and new racists.

People seem to be too fucking stupid to realize this but will cry "racist" or that they are being held back yet they burn down manufacturing plants and cause hundreds to lose jobs. Hundreds who have families, kids, illnesses and rely on these jobs. It will not make them sympathetic to their cause. It will make them hate.

If people did that then they'd have to admit that systemic racism is real, police have had too much power with too little oversight for a loooong time, and a black person born into poverty has a significantly lower statistical chance to "make it" in life.

I'm so confused by the people condoning this shit as if it has anything to do with proper protesting. Lives are more important than property only makes sense if the destruction of property somehow helps save lives. I do not see how literally getting some people killed, ruining the lives of others, or simply making their cause look worse would save any lives whatsoever. Instead of condemning all looters and vandals as bad, they either condone it across the board or blame it all on a boogeyman (though there are some real outside agitators but likely not enough to make any considerable difference).

Black Lives Matter falls too far short of the point law abiding demonstrators are trying to achieve. Black Lives Have VALUE. If you say this, then George Floyd is now in the same boat as David Dorn and the 22+ deaths from the riots and looting that stemmed from the protests. Also those who defied stay at home orders and gathered in groups of more than 50 and have spread the virus to their own families which will certainly result in deaths.

If your idea of justice is destroying other peoples' lives then No Life Matters to you.

it scares people out of complacency. years of systemic racism hasnt bothered the people in power enough to do a drastic overhaul of the system but I guarantee a threat to their property definitely will.

Yes I have. I've seen thousands, spoken to hundreds.

One of the cops just had their bail paid via fund-raiser. Another is most of the way there.

I can't even quote some of the things I've heard people say without violating the TOU but there's a ton of both:

1. Oh he was a methhead who wouldn't comply etc

and

2. The cops did nothing wrong, he just was on drugs and corona that killed him.

I refuse to believe you're active on the internet and haven't seen the same thing.

Walmart likely destroyed local businesses in the area.

In addition, Walmart can always leave if it dislikes the chance to get looted. Gonna guess Walmart won't care and thinks it is more profitable to stay.
I know Walmarts that get robbed all the time. It is more profitable to open in an area where they get robbed all the time than to not be there fyi.
