The vast majority of proper policing doesn't use weapons at all. Deescalation is a thing and our police fail significantly at it.

someone needs to tell the cops that. too many videos where people are just standing with a sign or shouting slogans. and cops move in with batons or take careful aim with rubber bullets like one guy was trying to defuse the conflict and ran in between a bunch of protestors and cops and was just saying "please just stay peaceful" and a cop purposely took aim and sniped him with a rubber bullet in the crotch and now he might be infertile. apparently this guy is person that used to be brought in to talk to cops in training on how to act calm and not go overboard on citizens or something like that. I wonder if the cop that shot him recognized him from training and wanted revenge for having to do the training

It isn't that cops can't use the less-than-lethal stuff, it's they treat it as if it does nothing to the people they use it on besides mild annoyance.

Like the dude who got his nut literally busted by a rubber bullet. That shouldn't happen.

To use/carry a taser, a cop must be tasered (least that's what I remember hearing a long time ago). I don't think it's unfair to expect a cop to have been pepper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets, tear gassed, riot gassed, etc before they're allowed in a situation to use that stuff. They need to respect the stuff they're using before they use it. If they don't respect it, they'll abuse it. If they abuse it after they "respect" it then fuck them and they can deal with the consequences.

You dont need to be tased in order to carry one; you just need to be certified. I took an exposure, though, to understand it better. It sucks, and it would be horrendous for longer than 5 seconds, but its not the worst thing Ive dealt with.

I took an OC exposure in certification, too, and fuck all that. I dont even carry it.

Ive also taken tear gas exposures, and had to try to fight through it, etc.

Im not a proponent of rubber bullets. I dont think it should be an option.
