Also mlb owners: we just signed a billion dollar tv deal for our post season rights

with a country desperate for sports, MLB was positioned perfectly to be the first sport back and bring in much needed new fans. Instead the billionaires wanted to pinch pennies. What's worse is they are likely doing this to make it more difficult for the lower salaried players to save up to prepare for the seemingly inevitable strike that's going to happen in 2022.

like I keep fucking say, there is Korean Baseball almost every night for like over a month now, on ESPN. I keep saying this and apparently all the whiners would rather get NOTHING than dare to watch foreign baseball

What I don't get is why did the owners make that deal in March then? Even back in March we knew the entire spring could be cancelled, if it was good enough for them to agree then, what has changed? Were they blind, deaf and dumb and thought those worries were fake and that baseball at most would miss two weeks? That's why owners have no leg to stand on, they knew waiting until July was a real possibility, they ignored that and agreed to something that they now regret. Fuck them.

99% of professional baseball players make less than their contemporaries in other sports. The USA literally passed a law during the Trump administration that made it legal to pay them less than minimum wage in the minors. Just because a handful of guys get big money doesn't invalidate all the guys who make less their worth because that's what the system is. The same system the owners are now reneging on, only now because it might benefit them.

i'd rather not watch anything then given ESPN money for sure. And people are more attached to players and teams they know. There's a reason why I'll spend $50-100 to see the cubs in person but I won't go to a AAA game unless a group of people ask. I enjoy watching top level athletes, I don't enjoy the mistakes of lesser athletes.

You think they aren't working hard sacrificing their bodies and time for your entertainment while others get more of the profit? The deal in March was based on fans being able to attend the games. Without fan attendance the owners actually lose money playing games if they pay prorated salaries. So the more games they play the more money they lose.

I always liked baseball .I think I enjoy the simplicity. and the rules are easier to understand that most team sports

The owners have been trying to pay players less and less for years and if the players agreed to take less money then the owners would royally fuck them in the CBA negotiations next year. The owners are the reason players like Aaron Judge won't get a proper salary for near MVP-level production until he's 31 and because he's 31 they'll say he's too old and would give him jack shit. The owners have been trying to dissolve their minor league teams and pay them less than minimum wage so they can pocket more money.

Also, all of the proposals from the owners paid the players for roughly 48-54 games and any extra games were basically for free. 48-54 games is enough for the TV deals to pay the players so the owners don't have to shell out shit. They're not losing any money lol.

Stop trying to compare the KBO to MLB. It's like trying to compare MLS in it's infant days to the Premier League or La Liga. Just because they play the same sport doesn't mean the level of competition is the same.

sure are, compared to people that do useful jobs that actually help society. but this isn't comparing players to say hospital workers, its players against their management; and if you think the players are overpaid then what's your thought on the guys who are making money hand over fist on those players and maybe paying them 10% of that profit?
