I mean, I wasn't timing myself but I definitely did it in less than an hour and I felt like I sucked cause of the controls but I still never died...

No, I think its normal to play it for no more than 5 minutes before turning it off and saying damn, no wonder they didnt release that.

Eh, I can see why Nintendo shelved it for Star Fox 64. Feels way too ambitious for the hardware.

SNES controller d pad clearly doesn't work for precision aiming that is required of free form dogfights. Most of the boss fights require either just barrel rolling while you blindly fire at the Star Wolf member coming head on at you, or it's a stupid "core" in a base that you just circle strafe and fire at until dead.

I didn't...hate it, but I don't think I'll ever touch it again. I'd probably hate it if I actually spent money for it though.

I played it for maybe 10 minutes and IMO it was just a complete mess of a game. Props to you for pulling through TC.

To be fair, I was like "I'm just going to see what happens for the first two levels then quit."

And then it sent me to the final stage.

Star Fox games are generally short. An average playthrough of 64 is roughly 45 minutes to a hour. Youre meant to play them multiple times

I'm not even actually sure it was 45 minutes. It could have been 15 for all I know I just realized it ended after 3 levels with like a minute Star Wolf fight between them.
