Shirley is a great character and criminally underrated. I still use her "So... why do you hate me and Jesus?" quote occasionally.

I was also sad to see Pierce go first, he was actually who got me into the show. I didn't like Community when I first saw it, but a while later, I saw a compilation of his scenes with Vickie. That inspired me to give Community another shot, and it's one of my favorite shows now.

I would have booted Chang first. I like him, but he's so damn inconsistent throughout the series. Of course, that's not Ken Jeong's fault - the writers just had no idea what to do with him in certain seasons, namely 2 and 4.

I think Shirley's actress is just streets behind the rest of the cast. She has a couple moves that she relies on, which mostly involve talking in her high pitched sweet voice and her low bitch voice. 90% of her comedy just comes from alternating between these two modes... and that's it. Not nearly as dynamic as every other member of this great cast.

I especially dislike it when for some reason a director stuffs her into a movie like Tropic Thunder or Avengers and she just overacts her brief cameo scene....

Chang leaving early I could kind of see - He's fantastic season 1, great season 2, and then his character is all over the place.

But the Dean?! Gosh dean it. He's fantastic!

Britta and Shirley should have been out right after Pierce!

Think I liked season 5 better, Hickey was incredible. Also helps to wash out the bad taste of season 4 when binge watching.

Hickeys alright but Duncan being basically main cast in 5 is even better

Frankie and Elroy are both good too. I wish wed gotten more episodes with them.

The dialogue and premises for Pierce definitely suffer as the show goes on. Not to the extent of Chang, but still.

I'm still a bit disappointed how easily and quickly he just came back in S3. Really takes what was a very poignant moment at the end of S2 and does virtually nothing with it.

What happened again? I forget.

He leaves the group after the S2 paintball finale after winning paintball and the group deciding to let him stay and they end with Jeff saying he'll come back in just a second, which he doesn't and they just hang on that. Then in the S3 premiere he just immediately says he's coming back and then the episode is all about Jeff.

And it's not that I don't like the S3 premiere overall, it's just sort of the moment that shows they really gave up on making Pierce interesting imo.
