4. The total number of COVID hospitalizations continues to hit record lows. Total hospitalizations fell to 1,479, from 1,538. Sadly, 17 people in New York passed away yesterday due to COVID-19, down from a heartbreaking day when we lost 800 New Yorkers nine weeks ago. Our thoughts are with all the families who have lost loved ones to this awful virus.

5. Yesterday, New York reached the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests since the pandemic began. Out of the 59,341 tests conducted in New York State yesterday, only 567, or less than one percent, were positive.

The deaths is great news, if there can be great news with 17 people dying. Just two weeks ago we were having around 75 deaths a day, but it's been coming down. Hopeully that gets to zero soon, that will be the truly great news.

Everywhere I go I see masks and social distancing, if this continues to with NYC going into phase two, the rest of the country will need to wake up. I'm not counting my chickens before they hate though, NYC can spike right back up, but if it doesn't then this shows with due diligence any place can get this under control. At the very least the more suburban areas in NY show that this can be contained, so that's good news for every place that isn't a big city.

Well congrats man. I bet it was really tough living through all that with New York as an epicenter.

I agree with you TC.
NYC and NYS did a really good job coming together over this one.
Honestly, I don't think I have seen anything like it in my lifetime.
I am hoping the protests didn't mess that up.
Though a ton of us must have the antibodies by now, if that really is a thing.

new york, new jersey and michigan were the 3 hardest hit states early on and now are the 3 states handling it the best. in michigan were averaging like 200 new cases a day and single digit deaths.

hoping the north continues to handle it better than a lot of the southern states that are hit hard.

I wouldn't be surprised if they get a full dose of 'Merca-19.

Hopefully they don't take this as a sign to reopen right away. Most countries reopened after literally weeks of lows. America I think is the one of few developed countries reopening prematurely

As long as the rest of the country is getting hit and NYC is one of the most popular destinations and there are no travel restrictions, this means very little.

Well then is time for people to not go there.
I would have loved to visit by now this year, as I finally have a normal-ish sleep schedule.
But sadly that doesn't look likes it's in the cards for me this year.

The point is, it takes some sense of personal responsibility to fight this thing.
