No Spoilers please, still playing through it.

It's a bit buggy, that's my only complaint. Crashed on me three times today.

Anyone else play this?

Always figured I'd pick it up down the road for cheap. Glad you're enjoying it. How many hours you put in? Curious how frequent those crashes were.

It was on sale on the psn store for like 14 bucks!! I've been playing it non stop for about a week. The map is deceptively large. There's not a big plot but there's a surprisingly decent story that unfolds. Stealthing enemy camps and destroying zombie hordes never gets tiring. A whole lotta game for what I paid. It's like The Last of Us crossed with Red Dead 2.

But imo it is a great game, and the early game is the worst part.

I juuuuuust started to get serious about hunting down hordes when my game crashed again. Man, battling those hordes is everything I've ever wanted in a zombie game. I just wish there were larger urban environments in which to combat these freaker armies.

Are you paying on base or pro? I 100% my file and probably crashed like 6 times across ~60 hours. I guess crashing is pretty random, but it seems like you got unlucky.

Btw finding hordes can be a bit of a pain. Eventually they get marked on your map (minor spoiler if it hasn't already, sorry). However, the marker is just where their nest is, and they could very well be wandering around even if they should be inside. So you gotta ride around sometimes you see where they're wandering around.

I'm playing on Base. Ahhhh thanks for the Horde tip. I've gone to a few of their icons on the map only to not see a single freaker.

What's the difference between playing on base vs pro? I'd love to kill even LARGER hordes, although something tells me perhaps in the story I will. Pro is 4k as well too right?

I played on the Pro, it's mostly a resolution and maybe a detail boost I think. Interpolated 4K. I only ask because there could be a stability difference, who knows.

On the hordes, sometimes there's convenient trails of shit around, sometimes there isn't. But if you happen to know where a mass grave is nearby there's a good chance they're there. Edit: But also if they're at a mass grave it's probably going to be a big horde <_<

Yeah, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. The story was actually structured really well, and fighting the Hordes was such an adrenaline rush lol. My only complaint is the bike was hard to control at times.

But it's one of the few games I actually managed to get Platinum for. If they ever made a sequel, I'd be so down for it.

Idk, some of these side missions can be entirely foregone right? I enjoyed having them as an option when I got a little tired of just aimlessly scavenging the world. The beginning definitely felt like it dragged a bit.

18 bucks is a killer deal!

That was the last trophy I got, during the postgame, and I think I did it somewhere towards one of the last areas you get to go to. So I dunno if I can really tell you without spoilers.

But yeah, just find a large road where you can drift in a circle without any obstacles getting in the way. Took me a little bit to get it done even with that.

I like the little camp performances. It's just a nice little immersion opportunity. I usually walk up and take the opportunity to sip coffee and burn one usually. There's one happening now, I guess these count as collectibles too? cool cool.

How sweet would this game be if you could scavenge and destroy hordes with a friend online? Man. That could be a sweet co-op element for the sequel.

I'm trying to build up the rep and get all the sweet weapons unlocked before I go any further in the main storyline as someone else suggested earlier.

That trophy is basically impossible without going somewhere really flat to do it. Otherwise one of your wheels will come off the ground and end your drift.

That would actually be awesome. Are you going to dive into the arcade mode after the story? I've been thinking about doing it, and it seems a great way to implement multiplayer. You get to play as other characters like Boozer which is pretty sweet. All that content was free post launch additions too.

Arcade Mode? I had no idea that was even a thing. That sounds awesome. I'll definitely jump into that. Ironically I've been neglecting my own real life motorcycle since I started playing this game and spent most my day working on jumping the battery to my bike. I think on monday I meant to idle it but couldn't put the sticks down man lol.

So I just beat the game. Credits are rolling. I totally fell for that fake out. There was something about Deakin St. Johns mercilessness that really stuck with me. The dude was a cold blooded killer through and through.

Damn, I really enjoyed the fuck out of this game.

I got the platinum like half a year ago. I haven't done the arcade mode stuff yet, as I figured I would do that when I do a NG+ on Survival or Survival II to mix things up.

The worst part were the collectibles tbh. They're not that bad, but they don't mark them on the map and they feel super pointless outside the NERO batteries (or whatever they were).

Me either, but that rolling reload patch makes taking out hordes so easy with the auto shotgun. I mean... it's not really hard anyway, but that trivializes it to a ridiculous degree.

Interesting. That wasn't my takeaway at all. It works out for a few people, but the future is really dark, and Deacon doesn't tell anyone what he sees.

Omg the vows haha. There were some crude moments.

@vigorm0rtis I'm going back to camp to get the shotty thanks for that tip. I got really worked over trying to do the sawmill with bare minimal gear. I'm never making that mistake again.

My takeaway from the game was definitely a more bleak outlook. As another pointed out Deakin doesn't really report to anyone else what he sees. There was a plan to combat the hordesbut that didn't pan out. I really liked how each camp explored different systems for how their society functioned. The world and it's characters were great. I wanted Deak to get back with his lady and savored getting revenge on you know who.

It was kind of a technical shitshow at release, I suspect that accounts for most of the bad scores. Sure, IGN had an... interesting take, and I think Polygon bellyached about Deacon being a boring white dude, but other than that...

Could be it, actually. I only just played it late last year/early this year. One complaint I will say I have is how fucking long the game is because of the way they structure the missions. Most of what you get in a standard playthrough is required to progress the story.

Imo the fact that Iron Mike is basically the only "good guy" is an extremely positive outcome for a gritty story like this. I expected Boozer to die, Sarah to be dead already (the lead being false hope) or dies after meeting her, and I was convinced either Rikki or Addison wouldn't make it. Hell, even Lisa survives, and they manage to preserve a somewhat peaceful and stable life. Iron Mike's camp could have been completely destroyed by the Rippers.

All these things I was worried to come to pass, and a more bleak story would have done many of these things imo. In the end it's about people doing their best in a shit situation, rather than about having to sink into depravity for survival like a lot of these stories end up being.

Honestly felt the opposite. Felt like the usual would be to have her alive. Maybe I watch too much cable tv and that's why. Sure, she'd probably be dead on something you'd find on a channel like HBO, but not on a standard cable channel, IMO.
