my body is breaking down. over the past few years I have noticed accelerated decline of my mental and physical health. I will be shocked if I live to be 50. Today I feel horrible and don't even want to leave my apartment but I need to visit my parents for dinner.

nope. I mean I am not denying a lot of this is my fault. and some of it is due to depression and other mental issues. it can make you disregard taking care of yourself.

one of the worst things about life is if you're feeling poorly, especially mentally, things will only get worse if you don't make some changes, and making those changes becomes increasingly more difficult.

nope. I gave up years ago. it's not going to happen. especially now. I only had a small window in my teen years where that was possible and I blew it.

BTW. One of the big ways to improve your mental health is to completely change your diet to something more healthy. That had a big impact on me personally.

"You are what you eat"

It's obviously not a cure-all for depression but it really really helps

I usually don't go outside if I can help it and I just lay around watching tv or playing something or whatever. I don't do much physically

no friends. no job. I had one a few month ago that lasted a few months. was in a hospital kitchen (washing dishes) and I panic quit due to the virus. I wasn't making that much anyway and I just didn't feel comfortable going into the hospital anymore

have 1 sister, 1 older brother, parents, niece nephew and brother's wife all in my town. yes I talk to my parents almost every day by phone. see them in person usually at least once a week

Have you considered seeing a doctor? You absolutely shouldn't be experiencing severe mental and physical decline at such a young age unless you have some kind of underlying health condition.

Happy birthday, dude. I suffer from a lot of social anxiety, where I'm constantly thinking of things said upset or anger me. It's an incredibly toxic mindset that I would love to break myself from. Other than that, I'm in better shape now than ever was in high school. I'm pretty happy with the progress I made over the last three years.

I see a therapist once every few months. mostly just to renew meds. I used to see a psychiatrist but then I moved and Alaska doesn't have much on offer in that regard. there are barely any psychiatrist or psychologists up here and I haven't been able to get an appointment with one

no. my family is here. that's why I moved here. and I can't survive on my own. I am only semi independent. I live in my own apartment but I rely on my family a lot. mostly my parents. but assuming I do not die before them, I will likely have to ask my older brother for a lot of help someday

As long as your communicating and not isolating yourself, that's good.

I'd say never give up hope, but I'm sure that sounds like an empty platitude to you by now.

Is your dependence on family strictly financial? If so I think a rewarding career is what you need. Of course that won't happen overnight and we got covid right now, but you need to work towards that goal. Maybe your therapist can help advise you.

I get money from the government and mostly pay my own bills and by my own food. They do help sometimes though. But most day to day expenses i pay. It is more that I often need help to deal with various problems in life and can't survive entirely on my own as an individual. Thats why I moved to Alaska. My parents chose to do it and I just followed cause I couldn't make it on my own if I had stayed behind

Yea my parents are in their 70s. I have 3 siblings though. Older brother, a sister a few years younger and a super younger sister in her 20s still
