Canadian Movie Theatres will be reopening soon in the coming weeks as Cineplex Theatres and Landmark Cinemas have plans to re open starting with older films..but MASKS will NOT be mandatory as they will let movie goers DECIDE whether or not to wear them..which is vastly different from the United States as theatres reopen there where it IS mandatory for moviegoers to wear masks!!

Cineplex and Landmark made the rare remark and doubled down on its committment to let the customer decide if they should wear masks and is a rare mjor policy decision that doesn't follow in lockstep with the United States

Only staff will be required to wear masks and personal protective equipment with guidance

This puts Canada at odds with the US Largest exhibiter, AMC Theatres which went into damage control after CEO branded mandatory mask enforcement as being "political" then did a U-Turn and said now they will make it mandatory joining Regal Cinemas and Alamo Drafthouse

The backlash left on social media against AMC executives was swift that caused him to reverse course

Canada's Landmark Cinemas says the landscape here is much different stating canadians have a personal choice tpe stances but that is also because the impact of COVID-19 is handled much better here and Canadians have flattened the curve whereas the US is seeing an INCREASE in cases and deaths

The theatres will continue to take guidance directives from the government leaders as most cases were in Ontario and Quebec as British Columbia surprisingly being the 3rd biggest provinces has had the best COVID-19 response among all provinces thanks to early lockdown procedures from the NDP Government.

Getting COVID-19 from theatres is on the lower end compared to grocery stores or schools where people are always in close contact but movie theatres are expected to do deep cleaning after each movie has finished and close off areas so seating is limited.

Canada has had over 100,000 cases with over 8300 deaths but the numbers of new cases are falling each day as opposed to the United States with over 2 million cases and over 121,000 deaths and climbing. This is has also caused border crossings between the 2 countries to remain closed as the virus cannot be contained down south

It's gone overboard this whole time, yeah. If people can be shoulder-to-shoulder during a protest, there's no reason to force people to wear masks in theaters.

This. The hypocrisy in NY at this point is laughable. Groups of 50 or less, unless you're protesting with BLM, then, screw social distancing... but when there were right leaning protests in Michigan? OMG, THEY'RE GOING TO GET EVERYONE SICK!!!

And there isn't even a straight answer about the stupid cloth masks or "surgical" masks to begin with. Most evidence points to them doing just about fuck all to keep you safe, and may increase the odds of giving yourself a respiratory infection, but by wearing one, by gum, you've signalled your virtue for all to see!

You don't have to wear a mask in Canada because it's racist or something. Plus the Liberals want more cases so they can push their nutball leftist/communist agendas more.
