for reference, no one knows how many people china and russia lock up; though it is known for a fact that china at the very least imprisons people for organ trade... so your stats are bias as fuck too.

Yeah I don't doubt that China has wild fucking numbers. But we knew that already. That doesn't excuse the US for having numbers that high. I'm pretty sure it's higher in the us even if you account for other countries fudging their numbers (oh and us too, we're not incapable of deceit)

Do we have a breakdown of the crimes of the current prison population? While I'm sure the need for prison reform will massively help, it may be more of a sign of nationwide or localized social issues more than anything.

I think prisoners should be made to do public service and the like (not working for companies), but I am vehemently against the concept of literally investing in and making profits off of prisons.

The whole system needs reform, not just the for-profit private ones. Those ones still seem like the most ridiculous human rights issues in this situation to me tho. Should all be rebuilt. --- ...
