you can get the handheld version for $200, iirc, and I don't think there's a shortage on those.

$300 was the perfect price point for the thing. They'll probably be able to keep it at $300 until the Switch 2 comes out.

Switch is absolutely gonna dominate PS5 this holiday season.

$300 for a Switch or $600-$700 for a PS5... and that's before you even buy a game.

^ if you're lucky enough to buy a Switch for that amount

yes but also it's the casual system.

i know a lot of people that have a switch to play animal crossing and mario kart/party.

Not in the States. The idea of bringing a "portable console" around and playing it was seen as strange. Additionally, the Switch didn't have great specs in comparison to its competitors.

Given the disaster that was the Wii U, people were skeptical of Nintendo at the time

To be fair the Switch and PS5 appeal to different types of gamers. There's overlap, but I think all three systems will do fine this holiday.

I cannot foresee it going down in price in the future. Until Nintendo makes a new switch or a new console, it is 300 or nothing. Also 300 is supercheap for what you are getting imo. I think Nintendo could have easily charged at least another 100 bucks and not many would mind.

Damn, glad I got a used one before the pandemic started for like 180. It had a few scratches and its very difficult to remove and insurt the left joy con but aside from that it's been solid. Perfect hacking machine

China is back on lockdown due to Covid-19 resurgence, so there's likely no new stock of Nintendo Switch coming this year.

So maybe you should get a Switch for $400 or $500 now if you want one to put away for Xmas because come the holidays it will be $1000-$1500 or even as much as $2000 'cause you simply can't buy them at retail anymore period.

If they come out with a deluxe improved version of the Switch or whatever they would call it, then the regular one will probably drop in price to about $200. With the improved Switch costing the same as the original one most likely.

If the background is white on the box, you got ripped off and it's an overflow early model Switch
