The anime and video game were actually developed concurrently. One wasn't based on the other. The video game released first but that's just a technicality and it was only a few months before the anime premier anyway.

I meant like the anime is literally based in a video game world as a setting. They are in a video game world with two of the main characters being warrior kinda classes lol

Oh there's also a lot of bullshit in the anime that if it actually existed in a real MMO the MMO would fucking fail so hard.

Then there is the Theee musketeers where it was a dance of mimi being nice to tsukasa and tsukasa throwing temper tantrums

I remember watching this every week on Cartoon Network, I loved the opening!!

If you liked the music, check out Magica Madoka.
If you want a series that's more like a real MMO, there's plenty of those out there now. Log Horizon starts off really great but loses quality as it changes production teams. Overlord is about an OP character being OP, but doesn't fall into those traps of pretending he's not. Accel World is literally SAO but not shit.

Sign doesn't have much in the way of fighting, Roots has more fights but a lot of episodes just for plot purposes.

It's one of my top favorite anime series, and I really appreciation its focus on characterization instead of action. Tsukasa is a great character and is a large part of my own enjoyment due to relatability, but isn't exactly a character that everyone will like, I guess...

Did you even do any research at all before watching this? Even cursory glances at pretty much anything would have told you that this isn't an action series, and expecting otherwise is asinine.

Did you know Sao is a prequel to Log Horizon have fun with that ruining it for you
