Beautifully designed

Excellently made but short VR campaign
Added DLC to a 20+ mission campaign

So why did it not attract anyone's attention?

Once you get the hang of the controls and unlock plane customization tech to improve handling and stuff, you will live out some fun Top Gun fantasies for sure.

So in a way, it is grindy like a racing game having to buy unlocks in-game.

After the great PS2 games , they made AC6 exclusive to Xbox360 which I didn't own , then made AC : Assault Horizon which was poorly received and more like a Call of Duty inspired spin-off , then a free to play PS3 game .

By the time they made a proper sequel , I personally didn't feel any excitement about the announcement .

The series just felt like ancient history to me .

I feel that. The launch was so unceremonius because Bamco fucked up with Assault Horizon and then made things royally worse with Infinity's abusive F2P MTXes. It's a shame because AC7 stands toe to toe with AC5 in all aspects and in a stupid twist of fate, they gave up on coop multiplayer and threw in a horrible tacked on deathmatch mode all because they misinterpreted the criticisms of Infinity.

Ugh :(

When I saw the AH trailer, I was so pumped I actually bought 4, 5 and Zero just to hold myself over until release. And I loved them. 5 is one of my very favorite games ever.

Then the demo finally dropped and I hated it lol. Never bothered getting the full game. Still, I'm glad it happened so I could retroactively get into this series.

Interested in 7 but I'll want to check out a demo first.

because it's a niche genre that appeals to a small subset of people, who bought and enjoyed it.

it's also on gamepass for anyone who wants to try it out.
