It depends on the job and the hours, honestly.

I have a half hour unpaid and two paid 15 minute breaks. I take them all at once for an hour long lunch. Also, I only work 7.5 hours a day for work. My base week is 37.5

Don't you still have recommended hours? All my jobs were salary, but there was a time they want me to be there

I prefer an hour unpaid so I can go out, and get something good. Half hour means fast food or bringing my lunch

my work has a flex schedule
our core hours are 9:30 to 3:30 monday to friday, those are mandatory times (in nonCOVID era) that everyone should be in office regularly
the remainder of the week, you're just expected to work from home to get all your shit done
i generally come in at 7 30 and go home about 3 30 and work from home basically every friday

e: but to be clear, that core hours don't count lunch...our lunches aren't clocked in any way and i've had plenty of 90+ minute lunches for various reasons...we don't punch in and out

Where I work now, ideally I get a 60-90 minute paid lunch break. If we're busy it might get shortened (or hell be basically non existent). But on average I get 60-90 minutes.

I have an unpaid half hour lunch that usually starts around 11:40 and lasts until around 1 PM and I want to just stick with that. If I want to leave earlier I just work through all my breaks ( two 15 min paid breaks and one 30 min unpaid) and leave 2 hours early. I can just go to the cafeteria and eat on the clock anyways since I have free reign to pretty much do whatever the fuck I want.

Im part of a union that has 1hr unpaid lunches and two 15min paid breaks. Its quite easy with plenty of downtime to take enough breaks to equal an hour anyways, so it sucks to have to take an hour (I mean, anything over 30mins and a supervisor doesnt really care but I try not to be the odd one).

Its annoying since I can eat and be ready to finish my day in under 15mins most days. I also am often done half an hour earlier than scheduled, so I lose 2.5hrs a week in pay...Id rather just stay that time and not get a break and be scheduled 20-25 minutes earlier in/out so Id only miss 5-10mins a day.

Its amazing how everyone else I work with would rather go home that half hour early or more and cut themselves short $50-75 or so a week, plus get their one hour breaks. So weird to me.

Same lol. One of the perks of being in the office was a Peruvian restaurant within walking distance where wed get lunch and sangrias.

i hated having an hour unpaid lunch. meant i'm at work for 9 hours and for lunch it would be way too long. sometimes i would leave on my first 15 minute break and go to mcdonalds and get breakfast and eat it in that 15 minutes.

i get a half hour unpaid lunch now with a 15 minute paid wash up break so really a 45 minute lunch. that's better but would much really just a half hour paid.

i'm on salary, time does not matter, only results
