This thing has been ALL Nascar's doing. They were worried and reacted accordingly. All Bubba has done this whole time is: 1. Be black. 2. Say "Black Lives Matter" 3. Want the Confederate flag banned.

There seems to be confusion. This was the garage at Talladega, which NASCAR has not been to since October. They are not practicing due to their COVID protocols, so they basically just rolled into the track, dumped the cars in the garages, and did a few touch ups on the morning of raceday.

With all the attention spinning around NASCAR and Bubba, some team member just reported something they saw and NASCAR overreacted to make sure they got to the bottom of it. Bubba has battled with depression in the past and lot of rotten shits have been attacking him on social media, which he makes the mistake of reading. His team members were just looking out for him.

I like Wallace and have cheered him on many times, the only thing I fault him for is going on morning shows and saying the doubters are ignorant without ever seeing the damn thing himself. Also theres a better than not chance that NASCAR realizes the reality of the situation extremely early into it and continued with the virtue signaling. They couldve squashed it well before it embarrassed them twice.

I read he said he only saw a photo

Now, FBI determined it was put there last year and there's no way to know bubba would have had this particular garage and that is QUITE the long con of racism if it were an actual hate crime

but then I saw bubba quoted as saying that its still a noose, even if it wasn't for him

if he's just trying to be semantically correct...then okay its a noose sure

but i feel like a better response would have been "You know, I overreacted after seeing an image of what looked like a noose and it conjured up some bad feelings. But I should have let the investigation finish before coming out and saying it was a hate crime and I apologize to those I didn't give charity to when claiming it was fake, but know that they were also making their opinions on incomplete data. I think now is a good time to reflect on the fact that when a news story breaks, we have about 5% of the information. And coming to conclusions based on incomplete data is often a recipe for disaster. From now on, I am going to do my best to make sure I have as much information as needed to not jump the gun. Hate crimes are serious, and I don't want to take away from that and give ammo to those who claim every single one is a hoax."

i agree the people calling it a hoax are objectively wrong. I'm saying the thing feels like an overreaction because of how easily it could be disproved. How it made it all the way to the FBI without someone working there saying "hey wait a minute" is telling about the state of expression in the country, or something else went wrong. Not sure what.

My suggested response was one that I feel would make everyone nod slightly at minimum. "Hate crimes are terrible things and should be dealt with accordingly. But let's not jump the gun and cry wolf, lest we take the power away from our accusations."

Dunno how you can't agree with that but thats cool too

Well no one with any kind of influence is calling it a hoax. Cause its not. But plenty of people who do have influence, including Wallace, are not squashing the original belief that some racist act occurred. No one on the View has corrected it, Don Lemon hasnt, etc.

Of course that could be the reason why. For some reason my gut tells me in normal circumstances someone that worked there might have chimed in quicker. But I could just be way off.
