Things you spend far too much time imagining, no matter how unlikely.

I remember as a kid I always used to worry about forgetting my past once I reached adulthood. Nowadays, I imagine getting lost in the dark while driving, and all the major highways are under construction.

  • I'll somehow come across someone hanging off a ledge, and I won't be strong enough to pull them up
  • not so much anymore, but when I was a kid, I used to believe that I viewed reality "wrong"; like, everyone, including myself, really looked like monsters and everyone else saw reality for how it was except for me

edit: and that within a group of people, someone might be able to read my mind

I was afraid there was gonna be a drive by almost every second of my life when I was younger, I remember I would hear cars coming down the street and I would always make sure to look

Took me awhile before I started just training my brain to just and only look forward - those fears back sometime again in my sophomore year but thinking about now Ive never noticed there were two instances of this in my life

Now, its not being careful climbing down a steep hill on a mountain - like people can usually fly down faster than going uphill but Im so afraid of a misstep or sliding onto my back and hitting my head off of something.. I dunno how irrational that is though

It's not something completely impossible to happen, but I spend way too much time and energy worrying about what if my daughter died, or worse, what if I did something to cause it? Like I'm driving and am totally at fault in an accident, or take her to the park and she falls off a playground thing and breaks her neck or something. >_>

I mean I'm sure its normal to worry about your kids to SOME extent but I think I go way overboard.

Almost posted that, too. I got over it but for some reason as a kid I was always worried that would happen... didn't grow up in the BEST neighborhood but it wasn't really "you totally need to worry about a random drive-by" level, either.

Oh man I can't believe it slipped my mind.
When driving, I get scared I'm becoming "too comfortable" and not paying enough attention.
So my mind freaks when I can't remember every detail driving and says "Do you REALLY know you didn't hit a person and didn't realize?" which sometimes causes me to do a circle back or stop to check (only in neighborhoods to stop)

I have pretty bad social anxiety, all of my fears are irrational. Just the idea of standing in a crowd and everyone staring at me. It sounds stupid saying it, but it's the one fear I focus on almost every day. I've gotten help for all my mental problems and can handle it really well now, but it's still there

Honestly though! I feel pretty vulnerable if I'm thinking that I left the door unlocked and I'm in the shower. It's scary.

This one is scary too. Whenever I'd see a knife left out as a kid, I'd move the blade part to be under something because I worried it'd get bumped and land on someone's foot or something. The thought of cutting skin still makes me really uneasy.
