flu death estimates are 24k-60k, the flu infects 30-60 million a year. So we've already killed over 2x the HIGH estimate with less than the LOW estimate of cases. This also doesn't factor in that the only states are healthy and dead.

The death rate already looked extremely slow when compared to population and or growth of population. I'm always going to be baffled by this virus and it's existence. Which is telling, just gonna have to play it safe.

So 20 million people have had it and only around 120,000 havs died so basically the vast majority of people who get it will be just fine. Sounds like we literally shut the economy down and ruined many peoples lives and businesses for pretty much no reason. And if the virus is barely noticeable in so many people do we really need a vaccine for something so minor?

Even if the percentage of death is low compared to the total infected, the contagiousness of covid and how debilitating it is should be enough to be doing everything we can to mitigate its spread. Hospitals are being slammed because of how deadly the virus is and pretending like we overreacted to it after seeing the damage it has caused is moronic.

I thought the main reason was to avoid hospitals being overrun. If the hospitals were completely overrun then it would have also been bad for non-infected people who needed emergency care. Either way the economy would take a hit.
