My Hero Academia - 2/1 The stronger of the two remaining Bones shows and most likely the WSJ series with the best shot at winning. Naruto but if it was X-Men, only good. You get top quality action, neat catchphrases, Opening songs from legitimate A Listers. It's got a solid track record in its short career, but we haven't had a shonen winner in a while, with prestige series winning a lot of late. It might break the trend. Legend of the Galactic Heroes - 5/2 If we however keep the trend of having classics wins though, few series have the pedigree LotGH comes with. I reckon a lot of semi-casual fans hear about it first when browsing MAL's top ranks and see it with an obscenely high rating. It fully deserves that score (unlike a few other shows), it's been building a lot of steam recently, but have enough people seen it to get a win? Puella Magi Madoka Magica 3/1 Last year's finalist, on a mission to run it back. It could very well be a similar case to Cowboy Bebop's victory. Lose in the final to an unstoppable train, only to come back and possibly beat up a big WSJ series. Death Note 10/1 You combine some of the aspects from the top 2 and you get Death Note, a very casual mainstream show with broad appeal. But it's also at a stage where it's old enough to have a huge nostalgia factor going for it. Steins;Gate 14/1 Always a contender, you can never count Steins;Gate out. It's been running it close a lot lately so I can't put it up too high. But it's also the type of series like Madoka to level in strength as the contest goes on. If anything, making top 10 is the easy part for it. Will it choke again in the top 10 though? Kaguya-Sama: Love is War 20/1 I didn't think it would maintain the same level of strength from last year, but an excellent ongoing second season has kept the momentum going. However after starting the contest really strong, it's not been picking up voters who've lost their main priorities. I still think 2nd season being only on Funimation is dumb, cmon Crunchyroll, less spending on Originals with Calarts and more money towards actual anime. KonoSuba 20/1 This is uncharted territory for an isekai show, but it's also what makes it stand out from the rest. Fantasy world setting with tons of gags. It's a wildcard. Beastars 28/1 This year's top rookie, it came in with a lot of praise and it's one of the anime you'd recommend to those who watch anime on Netflix. But it's clearly playing second fiddle to a few other contenders and it's unlikely to pick up more support. Mob Psycho 100 33/1 Another Bones show with some really good action. Mob himself is a very likeable lead even against this stacked field. It's just got too many hurdles to overcome if it wants to win the whole thing. Baccano 50/1 Great show, love it.
