They're both Americans. And Edison has a major utility he started which still operates to this day, which kinda trumps a car. Edison is a household name, whereas Tesla will always be more fringe. Even the company Tesla and its vehicles are relatively fringe, although Elon Musk is consistently in the news.

Among the general public, I'd be willing to wager that more people think of the car brand first upon hearing the name "Tesla," not the inventor, and you'll definitely get more people saying that Edison invented the light bulb than anyone else. Anti-Edison/Pro-Tesla sentiment is pretty much exclusively limited to a small handful of nerds on the Internet.

I think Elon Musk is closer to Howard Hughes then people like to admit. Engineers get upset when I say this.

Yeah he deleted his tweet already but the message was heard and he gets to toy with the deniability and rally his base at the same time. I'm disgusted by so many people now, I don't even worry about the virus anymore.

I think so. Anyone that actually knows both of the names tends to know what a fucking evil scumbag Edison was.

But that's the problem...many don't know of Telsa, probably even still today w/ the car brand.
I first learned of him from fucking Command & Conquer: Red Alert of all places, cause my history classes sure as hell never once mentioned him. I still remember we were taught that Marconi invented the radio, even though the Supreme Court determined Tesla was its primary inventor in 1943. And no, I didn't go to school in the 1940's, I'm not Zeus.

If he ever get Humans to Mars in this lifetime, then Maybe...
