The top two in the left column create poor associations between health and food/exercise. The remaining three of the left column are worded questionably.

A diet in its entirety should be evaluated for its healthfulness, instead of marking dessert as a whole as taboo. Of course sweets can have their place in a balanced diet in moderation.

Those last two are so dumb I feel brain cells dying.

What does talking about food being healthy or not inherently have to do with weight?

The burger one at least is associating wanting a burger with being bad/shame just for eating one so alright. The clothes and diet one are kinda a why drag your kid into that I guess.

But JFC those last two.

I will use weight-biased terms at all times now. Everybody is a weedy tosser or fat fucker regardless of actual size; in fact more often than not counter to their size.

I can kind of understand the cake one.Saying you can't have cake for a snack, and that it's not healthy, is implying you can't eat snacks that aren't healthy. People living healthy lives often do have snacks, including cake, that you shouldn't eat all the time.

I'd say a better way to get that point across would be to teach moderation, because it won't be confusing a child with rules that are inconsistent (why am I being told cake is not okay for a snack now, but I'm told it's okay to eat later?). Let the kid know that treats are a sometimes food, because having them too much can make them sick (simplified for children to understand, tailor to an appropriate level of explanation).

Provide agency to make decisions under certain provisions; they can choose to have a treat now, but it means they can't have one again today.

Of course, if there's a communal dessert or something planned, that's important too. And that can be an explanation for why no cake for now.

I mean I don't get going after them. At all.

There's nothing wrong with talking about eating healthy, and it has nothing inherently to do with weight.

I basically just eat junk, and I'm underweight. Spouse eats way healthier than I do, and is overweight.

Talking about eating healthy is talking about eating healthy.
