This was their big new IP for last gen. It even had a movie in the works at some point. They released three games and then that's it. Nobody is clamoring for a new one as far as I know and this must make it one of the only Capcom IP's were that is the case.

Ah well. Pour one out for Lost Planet I guess.

Didn't that have some sort of constant-drain mechanic? Games with those never do that well.

I loved the original. I think I got all of the achievements but one. I think 2 didn't have a campaign or something and it just really turned me off then I never got 3.

it sucks because the 2nd one was one of the best co-op games out there imo. would love another similar to that.

I honestly really enjoyed the series, but I remember there being a big drop in quality, I don't recall if it was from the first one to the 2nd or the 2nd to the 3rd but one of them wound up being a stinker and it kind of hurt the series.

2 was super mediocre and the campaign was shallow for the multiplayer. Which was badass though. I remember playing as wesker

First was a masterpiece, second was my favorite multiplayer game for a long time. Didn't play 3.

The first game was awesome. The second game was essentially a co-op shooter akin to monster hunter. The third was outsourced to a Canadian studio that made mediocre ish games.

It really seems like Capcom just never found a latch of concepts to stick with. Maybe one day they'll try to revive the I.P.

The first one had impressive looking explosions for its time

I remember on Xplay Adam Sessler was hyping over the explosions

I have fun memories of playing LP2 while my dude treks through the arctic with a teddybear backpack and a bunch of Japanese schoolgirl emotes. I love games that let you mock basically all the seriousness.

Yeah, I have the game somewhere. The final boss can go jump off a bridge.

Yeah it sounds like the game never really found its footing

Lost Planet was like the first big third person shooter for the 360 IIRC. It was a looker and the snow atmosphere was done well. But was quickly overshadowed by Gears of War which came out not long after.

The sequel went into the jungle and had a big focus on coop.

I think the third was a sad Dad game?

1 was cool single player
2 was cool multiplayer
3 was a weird Gears attempt that wasnt polished enough and nothing like the other games

I didnt care for what I played of them that much but I would totally be down for a new one. I think it could work if they pushed it as Monster Hunter with guns.

...There were three of them?

I vaguely remember the second being announced and I own the first one... it was not fun though in my mind.

My brother was talking about how he wanted a Switch port of Lost Planet 2 the other day. A shame they sank that franchise with 3.
