He's wearing the wrong sort of shirt. I don't know why he started wearing that kind of shirt instead of his usual office shirts.

If seat belts where just invented would there be people who would protest them?

People probably said something like "YOU'LL JUST GET TRAPPED IN YOUR CAR IF YOU CRASH" (which...is actually true; seatbelts can jam easily if you're trying to remove them hastily).

A lot of people DID protest them and refused to wear them. That's how the "click it or ticket it" slogan was born.

I don't get the new shirt either. He's had it in the last few videos. I guess he's cool-guy-nerd now?

It's super silly dying it with that hairline.

His own fault. You can tell it's a purely business relationship with the Screenwave crew. He looks super uncomfortable like he doesn't want to be there in those Rental Reviews.

He always seemed to never want to do thigns on the business side of his brand. It's why he was with Screwattack all those years, but at least Craig and Tom were only in like 1 or 2 videos tops.

They've never been open on the goings-ons of the channel and its owners Screenwave, and there's this rabbit hole of Cinemassacre conspiracy theories that's started in the last few years because of it.

Stuff like James doesn't run it anymore and is just the Nerd character, that his wife made him sell it because the movie lost them a lot of money (which is not only misogynistic, but just untrue since the entire thing was crowdfunded), and that all or some of the guys in the Rental Reviews shows (which recently was canceled), run the channel.

Nobody has anything concrete since they and Screenwave has never been clear or open on anything to the fans.

He looked uncomfortable in the non-AVGN Screwattack videos too. He was in some PAX and/or E3 coverage videos, and it's common knowledge he hasn't really been into games since he was in college. Seeing him try to talk about modern games was just awkward.

Filmmaking is clearly his big passion.

when NV made seat belt laws mandatory my friends uncle and cousin stopped wearing their seatbelts because the law infringed on their rights to make their own choices. I havent spoken to them in over ten years but I wonder how they feel about masks

I still have relatives who reminisce on FB about riding in the back of pickup trucks when they were kids, and complain that not being allowed to do it anymore is because of today's sensitive snowflakes.

Right. His videos about films and such are a lot better than AVGN. I say this a lot, but James made a video about a piece of cardboard in an old horror movie that was actually interesting. You can see the passion and love in the way he acts when he's talking about movies he likes. I always look forward to those type of videos a lot more than AVGN videos and I still like AVGN. Even in his short lived podcast about music you could tell he was waaaay more interested in talking about that than video games.

I think most of those rumors going around (besides the misogynistic crap about his wife) are true at least to some extent. It seems Screenwave does own the AVGN or Cinemassacre brand. They promote him at their booths at conventions and stuff and will answer AVGN related questions at Q and A's.

They're milking him dry. They even went back and changed the video thumbnails with Mike's artwork and put James' face on there because of the algorithm. They've even went back and made minor changes to some of them just to get them back in the loop. It seems they are writing the show or at least it seems that way to me. It's been "different' for a good while now. You can just tell James is reciting other people's words and you can tell it's just a job to him.

Makes his rants seem more awkward and forced, his rage and facial expressions was funnier than the swears imo, and thats not really there anymore. Its still an amusing watch but leaves a "this woulda been alot funnier back then" kinda vibe

If there's any positive, more of his newer episodes are less skit-centric. His delivery feels less organic, but it is just him playing and talking about the games. For the people who dislike the guests and segments that go on for too long, that's gotta be an improvement to some degree.

Avgn has gone downhill ever since the movie. Poor guy thought it was his ticket to hollywood or something. It came off as a cringey vanity project. Now he just shows up and reads other people's scripts and it comes off as inauthentic. Even fans unaware of screenwave meddling are starting to notice.

It's gotten to the point that watching the Loco Bandito have a temper tantrum over a 30 year old video game is more entertaining than screenwave avgn.
