First Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children go "Tseng, Hojo and Rufus were actually fine somehow and Nanaki isn't the last of his kind"

And now the remake is going "Also Zack and Aerith won't die"

I'm not saying I really want people to die or anything but it just seems like removing consequences of everyone's actions to just handwave and go "Actually no, everyone was fine."

IIRC no text in the original game says Nanaki is the last of his kind, they're just not mentioned at all. You see him with little Red XIII babies after the credits

Bringing back people who clearly died was just bad writing so they could go "REMEMBER THIIIIIIS CHARACTER?!"

Sephiroth did good in 7remake. He basically made a time boom where all ff7 and it's side story happened to merge into 7remake. The game continues the story and it seems it's going to finish it once and for all.

Advent Children is at the root of it. The problem is they tried to make a movie out of a video game, and they tried to make it as loyal as possible instead of an adaptation like any other game. Instead of being an actual movie like Silent Hill or even the Mario Brothers movie; they effectively made a Metal Gear Solid "game".

And similar to the remake, they wanted to bring in "new fans" instead of just appealing to the old. So its not as much a sequel as it is a little bit of a re-imagining. Being FF7 related, Sephiroth had to be the climax of the movie, while Kadaj and the other two played the part of Jenova's limbs. The original game was already a finished story, the only thing they could do is repeat the same story with 'creative liberties.'

Dirge of Cerebus I don't really remember, but similar to what I said about AC; Hojo is to Vincent as Sephiroth is to Cloud. Iconic rivials, two sides of the same story arcs.

In regard to the remake, they're trying to do something with alternate timelines. MaximilianDood did some videos about it on YouTube but in short, MASSIVE SPOILERS DEEPER THAN YOU THINK:

Advent Children Sephiroth has gone back in time (how far may have something to do with Zack) The whispers are trying to make Advent Children happen again because they think its the only way to stop Sephiroth; Aerith is remembering the previous timeline and she's trying to figure out where the fork is between the events that lead to Advent Children and how to defeat Sephiroth once & for all.

If I were to speculate where they are going with the alternate timelines, I think they are going to create a total of three. The original, one where Aerith lives, and one where they go back in time from Aerith living and realize her sacrifice is necessary to defeat Sephiroth.

Yeah Sepiroth pretty much won in the Remake

He changed a reality from one where he lost twice to one where might win

That's pretty good going for a corpse.
