With computers, you can undo most of what you screw up. The things you can't undo you also have no reason to do.

For example, there's no reason to ever use the format command unless you really do want to nuke all the data.

Contrast with anything else, for example a car. You absolutely need to drain out the oil, and you need to do it regularly. And it can be catastrophic.
