Tesla earned the worst score among the 32 major vehicle brands in J.D. Power's 2020 Initial Quality Study due to various problems reported by owners.

Gee, who woulda thought an untested brand built on hype would disappoint..

The truck never existed (it was just a shell on a generic "sled", it was only hyped up so Tesla could report a positive outlook on their financials, AND they get a tax free loan in the form of those preorders they'll eventually cancel on and refund.

This is the last breath of impotent boomer rage against Tesla, folks.

Stock is up another 8% today for crushing Q2 delivery estimates. They're selling as many as they can produce without advertising because people love the cars so much. Sorry JD, no one actually cares about panel gaps being a millimeter off. The overall product is decades ahead of the competition.

This is a battery company that just so happens to produce the car that ends legacy fossil fuel brands. Bezos is next on the chopping block and he knows it.

I hate Tesla and Elon too, but stop hating for the lamest possible reasons and recognize the steam they're picking up before you get run over.

I'm a Bernie bro. Elon is a standard narcissist CEO that is ruthless towards his workers to chase his own fantasies. Tesla is just another soulless trash corp in that image. I enjoy the car and his clowning of Bezos, oil, etc. None of that means I personally like the man or the company.

I come off gloating about Tesla's success because I had to hear an earful of garbage from my inner circles, media, and people online about how I was an idiot for loading up on Tesla stock when it crashed below $200 last year. I knew it was the opportunity of a lifetime and I can't help but take a victory lap while up 7 figures not even a year later. I'm unbearably smug over it but I've almost got it out of my system lol

Hating Tesla and their vehicles because of minor QC issues on parts of the interior, panel gaps, etc. That's missing the forest for the trees so hard it's just as cringe as the people who think Elon is a genius superhero saving the world. Boomer media hopped from one pathetic reason to the next about why Tesla would fail. Now that Tesla's succeeded the best they got is "well your paint job is meh for a 60k car >:P" Impotent. Sorry Tesla won't spend ad money on your network.

I'll have an engineer come over to fix any little annoyance for free while whatever dealer you bought your car from tells you to deal with it.

Isn't JD Power's "initial quality" mainly based on just # of complaints in the first x months of ownership, regardless of how minor? Recall hearing that before, like how Fords were constantly near the bottom for a while just because people couldn't figure out the Sync system when it was new, not that the vehicles had particularly high rates of actual issues.

Edit: Well, I guess the article backs me up there, but also that Tesla did have quite a few other issues.

No way.

They were valued around 40 billion last i saw. VW is worth 90 billion and toyota is over 200 billion.

How did they jump 160 billion dollars in under a year?

if you meant American brands only i could believe it easily. But worldwide? Not a chance.

Eh, my car definitely has minor issues that have and still do need to be solved, but I'm more than happy with the car.

Issues I have or have had:

Paint imperfections. I didn't notice them, but most of these were fixed by the company I took it to for the ceramic coating.

The trim on the inside of a couple of the doors was coming off. They sent someone to my apartment to fix this.

Satellite radio doesn't work sometimes. Rebooting the car fixes this. That phrase still feels weird to say. It hasn't happened after recent software updates, though. Hopefully it's fixed permanently.

Summon mode - there was a brief period where my phone wouldn't connect to the car properly and I couldn't use summon mode. I'm thinking this was just on a particular software version. It didn't happen at first and it hasn't happened recently.

They were comically undervalued last year. Which is why I pounced. Teslas at 225B now.

Holy shit. How? Thats insane.

VW includes audi, porsche, lambo, and bugatti. And i think one or two others. Im fairly sure they own skoda and maybe peugot or renault?

Not sure about toyota but they for sure own Lexus ans daihatsu.

Toyota being so high confuses me but i mean relative to tesla they got a fuckton of cars on the road.

I cant comprehend that number for tesla. I believe you but.... how?

huh. Well they did get a 100 billion evaluation in january. Cant find more current numbers.

Either way theyre at worst 2 world wide i guess.

You can just google Tesla stock and compare market caps.

I'll explain.
What other car companies...
  • can produce an EV with the range, power, and scale that Tesla does?
  • are on Tesla's level for autonomous vehicles?
  • have giga factories across the world mass producing million mile batteries?
  • are starting mass production of autonomous semi trucks?
  • have a promising solar and green energy businesses?
  • have the services potential (insurance, subscriptions, taxi, etc) that Tesla does?
The answer to all of the above is: none. And I've barely gotten started. The other brands are just littered with infrastructure to produce gas cars that no one will want (or likely be banned) sooner than later.

Tesla isn't just a car company and it's starting to be more correctly valued as a tech company along the lines of Amazon.

As does most traditional media which is why there's always a vague rooting-to-fail energy covering Tesla that gets absorbed by many viewers. If it wasn't for Elon's dumb twitter antics and reddit bros fanboying him, most people that hate Tesla probably couldn't explain why they feel the way they do.
