It still holds up, great game. The metroidvania elements arent quite as strong as I remember and although I have always considered Asylum the better game over City, after replaying it I think I may change my mind on that.

I still enjoy the more linear experience over the open world direction they took the sequels in.

Still my favourite of the Arkham games, best story by a long way and I preferred the level design/structure.

I kinda think people who call AA a Metroidvania just haven't played Metroid or Vania.
Getting locomotion upgrades is an important part of the genre, but the overall stage design is radically different from AA.
